Rep Power: 0 Ok that definitely clears up some confusion. The K20A2 swap into the new Civic Si is a fairly easy task and is pretty much a straight drop-in. The new Si is only about 30 lbs. lighter than the RSX-S, the EM Civic EX is about 200-300 lbs. lighter, and I believe that the EM Civic DX is another 200 lbs. or so lighter.
Can anyone clear up this question - the catalytic converter on the EX is located in a different position than the DX, right? If so, swapping a K20A2 into a DX may require some additional work to get the header to match up correctly to the cat.

Rep Power: 305 Htown, I hope everything is doing well,
If you make it to our National 7th gencivic show in June 22 with your car, and I'll pay you for the gas getting here and the hotel room.
(my choice)
We'll have multimedia coverage so we can put all doubs to test.
pictures and video will be posted the very next day!
About that!

Rep Power: 0 about swapping RSX type S K20 A3 into Civic Si. I thought that the 2 engine only have some part differences. Won't it be cheaper to just change parts then swap engines??

I'll surely try to make the meet. But that's all contingent upon IB not encountering any more problems and everything getting done in time for me to fly down to LA this weekend to pick my car up.
blackcivic07 - Yeah waiting for the results sucks... but at least you still have your car at the moment. Imagine being in my position - without your car for 8 weeks and being fairly sure (but not 100% positive) that you will get it back very soon. But then things keep popping up and you end up waiting, and then waiting some more, then waiting a little bit longer, etc. But really there is nothing that we can do at this point other than be patient.

the main difference between the k20a2 and the k20a3 is the vtec system. The a2 uses a three rocker arm vtec while the a3 uses a two. the a2 is more of a "true" vtec as the three rocker arm is similar to what has been used in the NSX (the first vtec). for years. other than that, engine wise they are both pretty much the same.

Rep Power: 0 What you are saying is true - the Type S camshaft features VTEC on both the intake and exhaust cams, while the base model only has VTEC on the intake cam. But simply swapping out the heads won't give you an equivalent Type S engine. The Type S has a slightly different piston design (which accounts for its higher compression ratio) and stronger rods that are better suited for high-revving.

Rep Power: 0 The thing is the reason people want these engien's swapped into their cars is because it would be the only one out there with that particular swap!!!!!! I don't see why it wouldn't fit , if the rsx has the same chasis as the 2k1 civic does!!!!!!!! for those of you who didn't know that!!!!!! I think it will work and it'd be worth it!!!!!!!!!!!11

Whenever it's supposed to be done, I'll be able to know a few days in advance and will post a notice. I've got a pretty nice digital camera that I'll definitely be bringing down there to snap some pix. I'll be able to upload the pix at my friend's house in LA before I leave for the return trip back to Houston.[hr]

Rep Power: 0 I've been hearing about a 2k1 in Puerto Rico with the swap but there is no proof. My friend at work is from Puerto Rico and he says he knows the guy. He is supposed to be going on vacation next week. I will ask him if it is true to take some pics of the car.
