Well that would be nice and all but then we would have a limited selection of vehicles available from Honda. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only reason for Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti being around is because of the import laws that the US has setup to limit the number of vehicles imported each year...is that right?

Rep Power: 0 I'm not sure. since acura is made in the US, I don't know if that's the case. Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti are US companies if I'm not mistaken. US hondas are made in the US also. hence the "Honda of America". in Japan, there is no Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti. go over there and ask where the Acura dealer is and they'll look at you funny...like WTF? haha I think the name change is no normal American would spend $80K on a honda, they need "acura" to make them feel special. that's why all those car are basically the same stuff but diff. name so they get to charge more.

It's not like Acura hides the Honda lineage, the name Honda is stamped all over my car, headlights, windshield, engine, etc. OTOH, try and find any connection to Toyota on a Lexus.
Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

Toyota wants to bring Lexus to Japan. That way, they'll seperate the image the company has of economy and luxery. I mean, they sell the Ist right next to the Soarer practically. For Americans those would be Scion xA and the Lexus SC. Those two are worlds apart.

Rep Power: 297 Althought I know they use Acura name to separate from Honda because Honda was cheap ecnobox at first when they come to the US; Does anyone of you know if the japanese Honda headquarter actaully decide how an Acura is designed? In the case of TL, did they just designed for the american? and EL for the canadians?
Also, the 2 companies have different stock name and probably different board of directors, but does the profits eventaully go to the pocket of Honda?
