Hey guys. I live in CA and a friend of mine has told me that no matter what type of header I'd get, it'd make my vic fail the smog test. I've heard the same from some other people but I know you guys know about it in 100%. I really want to get a header but I dont want to have a problem with smog.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

agreed, wats a good header for an LX, im thinking of throwing a few things on, header included, but i dont know who makes a good LX header, or to swap to an Si header ( if they fit/work)

If you get the kamikaze header (which I heard good things about) your gonna have to get a Mil Eliminator or else your check engin light will stay on. Theres a guy on ebay that sells a kamikaze header for our cars for not too expensive and u get the Mil Eliminator for me with it

well if you have the mil eliminator, and they don't do a visual check, then you'll pass. I think though even if the car passes the actual emission test, it won't pass a visual test (ie, they'll see the header). Plus without a cat I don't think it'll pass anyway, unless they just plug something to the ecu. The ecu will tell them everything is okay with the mil eliminator.
If u use the kamikaze header, can i run an oldschool pipestyle cat? the style on basically any other car? also, if i am able to use the regular style of cat, will this throw a code or will the stock O2 still work fine, and not throw code.

I have the Kamikaze header with caspers 02 sim, I also have a maganaflow catback and the exhaust is loud enough that I got a fix it ticket in cali. I plan on putting back the stock header to pass the referee in cali then put back the kamikaze on. Mbison just be prepared for the "amplified" noise. It kinda sounds ricey.

wtf do people do that had aftermarket parts on their cars before this smog ****? Are they forced to take them off if they can't get smog stickers.

putting a header on with an exhaust and ull see minimal gains. a header by itself wont do much at all.
On another note, my question still stands, if i get the kamikaze header, can i use a pipestyle cat? will this throw codes?
