welcome, intake is basically a 1st step for many people..... however that comes at a price a good amount of people tend to complain about. A good idea is to search around, use the parts/reviews section and then if you have any specific questions, then ask. good luck!
if you want to make it much quicker, the only way is to swap for another engine or turbocharge your current engine.

I just bought an AEM V2 intake - notice nothing.
I just installed an AEM V2 intake on my 02 Civic LX and noticed zero improvement. My 0-60 time is exactly the same. Part of this sad situation is my fault - it's an automatic!! Talk about a blender with no where to go. Anyway, I can't find a turbo that's made for the LX's non-Vtec engine. No chips available and no superchargers. I am left with the decision to possibly sell the car, eat the $2K invested and start over with something that has more potential.
If anyone knows how I can tweak the fuel injection computer to recognize the intake (i already followed the instructions in the DIY - didn't do anything). Or if anyone knows how to change the shift points in the automatic tranny - that may help.
Should probably bail out and cut my losses for something older and faster...

Auto tranny is rough to deal with, and you only start with 90whp compared to manual 110whp. You could get a vafcII to tune the air/fuel, but that's only gonna give you a couple more hp.

correct.... 300zxTT, FD rx7, supra, 240, nsx, 3000gt vr4.... any of those you can get in great condition with fairly low miles for 10-25k.... theres nothing like mid 90s japanese supercars. its fairly cheap and ez to run 12s in any of those pretty much. and not much save 50k+ cars handle better than rx7 or nsx...

after all is said and done, you car won't be much faster xtina.
If you like how your car looks now, just keep it that way. once you start messing with the mechanics of the car, you might be putting yourself in situations harder to fix than peeling off tint, stickers, or repainting.
Good luck!

90whp for a manual are you kidding?? I've seen at least 3 dynos of EX manual get between 105-110whp with bone stock engine. Modded, I've seen as high as 140whp.

but to get the ecu to noticce the changes you make to it, is by cutting out the ecu fuse or turning off any power coming into the car, wait a couple minutes and pt it bac on. the throttle cable trick is pure rice, and it kills gas mileage......your simply burning more fuel putting it into a higher rpm range nothing more, do the ecu trick and call me in the morning, youll have little beast in to no time, oh if the turbo dont fit, use the ex turbo and customize, since thats where the best turbos are made from. it cost about the exact same ( just some extra welding, etc.)

Save your money. I'm sorry to say this but autos have no hope unless they are boosted, swapped or built. If you want power then sell this car and get a car that can give you a decent amount of power.

-hyper voltage system
-grounding kit/wires
-hi flow cat (may be illegal in some states)
-weight reduction
Hyper Ground and Hyper Voltage work great on the 02+ Civics. More response, brighter lights and better gas mileage for sure. I got a short ram intake from ebay but I dont think it did anything except make the engine sound a little more aggressive.
I'm looking for a good exhaust as well, any recommendations?

The cable is too loose from the factory. If this is the case, you will never be able to reach WOT. Even if you floor it, the throttle plate won't be open completely. So yes it does take away power if its loose.

not only that, but it helps cut reaction time by a split milli-second becuase the things are really loose, its amplified on automatic cars. I plan on fixing mine whenever I have the time...

i have a question, what if along with adjusting cable we removed the plastic piece that is located under the rug on the floor...... it stops the accelerator from going all the way down because it hits that piece, i was going to remove it but feared id screw something up. check it out
