As far as coupes go, the Tc is just too hard to ignore. It has the engine of the best selling car in America. It has the looks of a car that is easily twice it's price. (a couple of posts ago, it was compared to a BMW and tibby, I've also heard it compared looks wise to a G35 coupe) I think it is right where the coupe market should be, slightly more expensive then the average compact sedan especially with all the options, but still competative enough at a base price.
There is no substitute

That's exactly the reason Toyota came up with the Scion name. People think of Toyota as being dependable, but never exciting. "Scion" is a new brand name that they can build on, with no previous baggage.
Personally, I think of Corollas and Camrys as appliances; you might as well just stick a "Maytag" badge on there. I might be wrong, but that's just public perception.
Luckily, Honda doesn't have that problem.

lol. my mom drives a camry. and that IS what it is. an appliance. looks like a 'mom' car. when we were shopping around for cars, we went to the toyota dealership, and i sat in the corolla. TOO NARROW! didn't even want to take it for a test drive. just sitting in it, my arm was able to touch the door, AND my body. just too small inside. (this was in 2001 too. i don't know if they've changed since.)
I spend way too much time on this website

The TC has more power, of course that is true, but then the Altima has more power too and you could buy its for around $17k. But we never hear ppl compare them...
Ricers? Or tuners. Ricers are the kids with Samurai decals on their tC. Scion tC has much better aftermarket then the civic. You get reliabity with both cars. You get an awesome economy car that looks good too with the civic that will last you 250,000 miles.
Altima is friggin ugly in my opinion. And the MSRP starts at $19,200 with only 15 more horsepower
yes scion is a subsidery company but that does not make it a toyota. the tc has the camry engine in it. the transmission is just regeared to make it more sporty. dang nice car. i would definetely take on over the civic if youare lookin at power and looks.

I don't understand your reasoning behind this. What makes it not Toyota?

but see,
IT IS A TOYOTA....Everything in it is From toyota, lol the same people that made the toyota's, made this car, The badge is just marketing, when it comes down to it..
*This is really not THAT hard to figure out..

However... the TC on the other hand was made for the "fast and the furious" generation. and Why did i bring up the altima? cuz one could get it in the same price range as the TC. the MSRPs dont match, but thats only becuase of the Scion's marketing strategy of no price haggling. So what am i saying, Toyota is marketing some rice, if one really compared actual features to price ratio, cars such as altimas should be considered.
Toyota's Strategy Was not to be "Fast and furious" The Super charger is not even out yet. The Designer's of The TC, Took Poll's and did Study's on what young Potential Buyers would want in a Car,
Out of those poll's and Study's They find out that most People 18-29 wanted the 3 series, Audi A4, and G35's...They also found out, people wanted Quicker car's, more Luxury Feature's, and Very Stylish look's, and potential to customize. They took those main ideas, and made a Stylish luxury Type coupe, and did it all with out a 35-45k-price sticker.
This Design was To Give young buyers more options under 20k, And to do it with more Style,Luxury, Then the current market of 15-23isk K Car's.
im not comparing the TC to An Audi, The TC is a nice car, but its not a 50k car.
With what they came up with, and did this all in a 14month period...
I think they mastered it...
Also: This is all public knowledge, if people took the time to Actually Read ****,
Everyone would know this.
didnt read everyone's replies, but they forgot one very important thing on their little chart: gas mileage
gas is close to $2.40 a gallon for regular down here. im sure glad my vic is getting 32 mpg

i guess you havnt actually read what Scion/Toyota puts on their site... Yes they took polls and yes they designed their cars based on their results... but what car company doesnt. But now back to why i said they are marketing rice. On the Scion site, theres the FAQ section. In the FAQ section, Scion states they sell numerous amounts of accessories becuase of a survey they took that 50% of compact car users who modify their cars spend more than $3000 modifying their car. you are right, they dont even have the TRD supercharger out. So what are they selling? They are selling accessories some would consider rice such as "sport mufflers" and "ground effects". and you mention i didnt know the meaning of "market". To market an item is to sell an item. So Scion is selling (marketing), accessories, not tuner parts. Next time go to a Scion dealership and listen to their marketing pitch, they of course will tell you how good the value of the car is, but then they drag you in by telling you about how great their accessories are and how they are covered under warranty. This technique used is nothing new to Toyota. Sell at a low price then add on accessories and options. Only difference Scion makes compared to Toyota is no price haggling and the ability to accessories to a high degree with factory parts.

Scion is great for people who want a load of warrenty-protected blue LEDs, 7 plasma screens, and electro-hydraulically operating automatic expanding dance floors.
Scion sucks rocks for anyone who wants to go fast. I wouldn't be surprised if the supercharger option was a joke or marketing hoax to begin with. I'm sure that Toyota engineers have known for many years that it takes much more than a constant 5psi stream to make a Camry actually fun to drive.
