That shape is already used as an option on NSX-R's, so, it might look odd, but its totally functional.
Keep in mind, this V6 is old. It was originally designed in the late 1980's.
The highest output (kW [ PS ] /rpm) * 206 [ 280 ] /7,300
Largest torque (N m [ kg m ] /rpm) * 304 [ 31.0 ] /5,300
Which, would also be more understood if you remember that Japan has an upper limit on power ratings. I'm assuming they're using an engine straight from the NSX-R, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were tuned either.

Love the NSX but why dont they stick a mroe powerful stock engine in that bad boy. something around 400hp would be wonderful.

^ Simply because of the max power rating. The NSX-R is close to 300hp, which is the maximum supposedly agreed upon by Japanese manufacturers. Anyway, that scoop is supposed to help a lot especially during acceleration at high speeds. It doesn't need more power, it needs more torque. All the larger diplacement engines, even the newer ones have much better torque bands. The old Supra engines and the old Skylines and even newer Fairlady's can easily pull on a NSX-R in a straight line.
