questions 'bout 2k2 SI
i'm ordering a 2k2 si tommorow.. getting rid of my 2k1 satin silver coupe asap... just wondering if this site is going to feature the new civic as well..
I thought you were doin a swap
Good luck with the new Si...its heavier and about .5 secs slower than the old Si, but def a step up from the EX

this si has more torque though, and i-VTEC, and i believe a tighter suspension. every article that i have read said that the new Si would hand the old ones their @sses...
but either way, i still have an EX and ill get romped by both. so cheers!
they are just as fast cuz they readline faster and they deliver the same amount of hp and a lot more torque. it will be faster out the hole unless the gear ratios are drasticly diffrent
it the same reason why the 2k1 ex is faster out the hole than the 2000 si

HAHA~~ I dont know bout you but its great redlining at 8000, 6800 what a joke
I have no idea how its heavier but it is...its needs that extra torque to get it going just like dude said its a mini-minivan
whichever way you look at it, its a 7th gen civic so you will still be welcome here. shoot, Neomagus has a 6th gen civic and he still hangs around. hehe.
edit: he also has a 2k1, but he never talks about it

I think the extra weight has to do with stricter safety requirements and thus heavy things like side-impact airbags, and bigger door beams. Not to mention people want to be totally isolated from the road which means lots of sound deadening.

well.. i'm going to europe for a couple months.. so my car would just be sitting around depreciating in value... so i talked to the peeps in honda... and i give them my car now, and then pick up a new Si when i come back...
one of the reason i'm purchasing and Si is it's value... si's hold their values much longer then ex's...
and yeah it's pretty ugly.. but it's growing on me.. just waiting for body kits..

That's a good point. They probably hold their Value better than RSXs too. Never thought about that. Maybe I should buy one.

hey, anyone have a clue or an educated guess as to whether or not there'll be a waiting list for the Si?? also any clue on the price?? I'm buying an EX or Si in May... I'd rather have the Si, of course, but A) dont wanna wait for it to come in all summer B)as far as the price.. im in college, nuff said lata!
Feb 28th Jan Im going to Rahal here in Mechanicsburg to test drive one. Depends on whether or not the demand is high around here....we have three honda dealers faulkner in Hbg, Rahal, and Apple in york...Im pretty sure one of three will have one for sale considering the minivan look has scared a lot of older Si owners looking to trade up - Im going to post pics once I drive it - ill let everyone know how it turns out.
yeah... i can understand that... i wasnt crazy about it at first, but it's really growing on me... ANYWAYS, just to let ya know, there is a Honda dealer over in Hershey too on 422, Frederick of Lebanon just took ownership a year or two ago... anyways, hopefully they'll have Si's there considering daddy is a service mangager for Frederick... employee=mad discounts
lata

lata If youre going to be doing performance mods I say go for the Si...the K block has a lot more potential than the D...however for looks nothing beats an EX coupe (or LX if ya cant afford EX), the Si is just I dont even think seeing it in person will change my opinion on that.
Hey guys, I've been a member for a little while, but I've always just read the posts, rather than post myself.
I'm in Canada....and I put $7000 down on the Si (SiR here in Canada) in October. I was the 7th person to order one here. The first shipment of SiR's will be in Canada on April 1st. They cost between 18,000 and 19,000 American, and around $25,000 Canadian. If you actually check the currency difference it's much cheaper to get in canada. Apparently cars are always more expensive in the states. Go figure.
Anyways...the reason why the car's so damn heavy is because of all the torsional bars they added to the chassis. The car's 95% stiffer than the previous Si...making for a tighter car. I'm just hoping that the Side airbags (the ONLY option) help to reduce that weight. Needless to say I'm not getting them, they really do weigh a lot! I sold my 93 Si hatchback to get this car so it better deliver cause I LOVED my EG.
So there you have it....I walked into the dealership knowing more than they did. I haven't even gotten a final cost yet. Also...I ordered my car to be White. Which is a good thing because just yesterday, I discovered that only 35 SiR's brought to Canada would be white! woohoo!
