question for all the ppl that are insured as 2nd driver under their parents

i was told by 2 different agents today that i could save loads of money by keeping 3 cars in our household(i live with my mom so if we had 2 cars we would have to be main driver on each car) and she can insure the 2 good cars under her policy and i find another company insure the 3rd car.. and if i get into a accident in one of my moms cars her insurance will cover it even though iam not listed as 2nd driver, because i have a policy with another company... is anyone doing this? need some input... i dont wanna get screwed at the last min when i have a accident ... thax

Bah, yes you can save money if you have 3 cars since you only have 2 main drivers. Put your name down on the cheapest vehicle as the secondary driver, and that should help a little. Are you a good student? Fax them your transcript, and they can give you a good student discount. I have a 4.0 and I got truck loads off Ask the agent dude, they usually have helpful info.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I did get screwed one way. In my family we have 3 drivers, and 3 cars so that sucked But besides that it's all good! Remember your insurance will be jacked through the roof until you reach the age of around 25 when they start to drop. Make sure you don't get into any wrechs because it's not worth it because you screw up your car and it's not "new" any more and your insurance will hike up Same goes for tickets!

25...ahhhh, what an age..I remember that birthday, 6 months ago...and yes, my insurance dropped by 75 dollars a month for full-coverage.
Needless to say, I now have more vegetables around the house.....Ha Ha.

in my situation i had to have my dad as a cosigner on my loan so the car is in both of our names eventhough realistically i will make all the mods and payments etc.. BUT since his name is on it I put the insurance in his name and i am not even mentioned. I THINK though that since it is full coverage.. that as longas he knows that i am driving it then i am protected bu if not he had the wreck not me....
i pay 108 dollars every 3 mos. compared to 250 dollars every month...

in my case i paid cash right now the new car is at the dealer waiting for a owner ship name, what is the real meaning of full coverage though does it mean it covers onyl the one thats paying the insurance or anyone that drives the car as long as the MAIN DRIVER knows about it??

It depends on your coverage. But if you are making payments on your car, you have to have Full-coverage
until the vehicle's paid off. But full coverage in theory means you are covered even if the accident is your fault.
And other stuff too, burglary, theft, acts of God, all that....but it does cover drivers that drive your car...the car is the one insured, not the one driving it, unless it is the policy holder, or you coverage covers the medical for the passenger or others that may get hurt. It gets complicated from there on out..: )

That's why I live in the U S of A......nice looking women, great pot, and somewhat of a good law policy.
Sh*it....I can carry a gun legally, it rocks !! But paying for a tree...screw that, when down the road they're cutting that sh*it down for Townhouses
and a Starbucks...: )
