Driving low on gas

I havent had a job for a while because of the boxing and baseball seasons, so my funds are low. Because of this I find myself constantly driving on almost empty, sometime below. Is this bad for the car at all? or does it not really matter

I do the same, they say you can get **** in your fuel lines, from the bottom of the tank though

Most newer vehicles depend on the fuel in the tank to help keep the fuel pump cool. The lower your run the vehicle, the hotter the fuel pump can get. Over an extended period of doing this, you would be more prone to a fuel pump failure. We see a lot of it on GM pickups.

running out of gas is really really bad for your fuel pump, also when its cold out condesation will form on the inside of the tank if your low on gas

u could have premature fuel pump failure..it will just burn up, because there is no gas to keep it cool

yeah, fuel pump failure is what i have always heard. i just fill it up and run it till like 30 miles after the light comes on. then fill up again.

That's what I was htinking. But I have yet to hear of a fuel pump going bad on a stock Honda. I'm not saying it hasn't, it just seems to be a better built pump I guess

Probably is higher quality all around on the import side. We do a ton of domestic fuel pumps every year, GM being the most prevalent.
