Just wanted to warn everyone that this after noon I saw a white BMW SUV Iowa State Patrol vehicle!!!
I know that there are some strange police cars out there, but usually they are domestic.
I remember hearing about a WRX police, Camaros, Mustangs, Impalas, some vans, and of course the Crown Vics.
Has anyone else seen or heard of the BMWs?!?!

the city of cleveland used to have a c5 corvette police car that i would see everyone and a while...and i saw a picture of a wrx sti colorado cop...but nope never BMW...there must have been a drug bust in Iowa or something
We have an Sti and Mustang GT that are fixed up and unmarked to catch street racers... you would think that would be concidered entrapment but apparently they found a loop hole.

Yea, I think as long as they dont actually propose the race or something like that. Hopefully Im not too far off. I see unmarked intrepids and Ford Trucks sometimes. Never a BMW though

I remember seeing an Audi from the Redding office of the California Highway Patrol a few years back. They had it at a booth at a festival thing and on the way home I saw them on the side of the highway pulling a guy over.
When the Olympics were in Atlanta, the Georgia Highway Patrol had some BMWs specially done up and tricked out to escort the Olympic Torch across the country. They ran that right past my house. So, I got a good look at them. They were some bad@$$ lookin machines!
I don't know if they are still in service or not now.

My friend got pulled over by a cop driving a bmw. He was driving to vegas and he saw this bmw going really fast. He thought he was trying to race him, so he started driving really fast, like 100+ mph. When the cop eventually pulled him over, the cop asked him why he was driving so fast. My friend said that he didn't know he was a cop and thought he was tryin to race him...lol. Lucky for him, the cop let him go.
But most cop cars i see are the crown vics or white camaro's. Then again i can understand why the chp would want faster cars. If a m3's passes a cop by going 100+ mph, there's no way a crown vic would be able to catch up to him if he started from a cold stop.

My favorite entrapment story is from a little hick town here that had faulty and/or damaged radar guns in the 3 car force. lol

i'd rather they just not buy those. Use the money they saved from not buying that and give out less tickets....
. I know cop's dont have official quotas. But its interesting how most cops give out tickets toward the end of the month. just the standard vics in austin, although TX state troopers are getting rid of the stangs and are replacing them with STi's. i hawaii cops get an extra 200-300 a month to use their own cars, you see alot of cameros, stangs, imports and SUV's, never saw any BMW's though.

^^^^
i didn't know cops were allowed to use there own cars. I always thought the reason most law enforcement used domestics was the fact they got discounts and warranties from the Domestic manufacturers.
