So I was driving my new TL and....
abmerop showed this to me..
"Trucks started falling from the sky!!!!! Look at this car, and this letter. It was posted up on gnet by a member who worked at this dealership.
Letter:
Here is a letter written by a TL driver to his dealership about his car buying experience / unfortunate incident:
I was met on the lot and from the first greeting I was impressed. You asked in your letter if “the purchase experience met my highest expectations”. The answer to that question is yes. I drive for business about 50,000 miles per year, and get a new car every two years.
I was introduced to Mr. Joel Fowler, Silver Level Sales Consultant. This was not your typical used car salesman. Joel was a professional sales person and knew the answers to every question I had. Being a Sales Engineer I had a lot of questions. He did not push me at all and made sure before we went for a test-drive that he had explained all of the safety features to me. This is the best sales person and dealership I have ever worked with.
On January 6th. At 8:30 AM I was hit by a four wheel drive pickup truck, as you can see by the attached photo my Acura was a total loss.
The reason for this memo is two parts. First is to inform you that you have a dealer that is the best run dealership I have done business with, and a sales staff that was great. I spoke with Joel while I was in the hospital and never once did he say anything about selling me another car. He was concerned about me not selling another car.
Part two is your cars, I am writing this memo because I was driving a 2004 Acura TL, and I was told by the Oregon State Police that if I was in any other car I would have been killed. After I was flown to the hospital I was informed that due to the Air Bags and all of the safety features of the Acura are the reasons I survived.
I was I the hospital for six days, no broken bones no internal injuries; I was banged up but will be back to work soon.
Please keep-making cars with all the safety features and please keep improving them. Will I buy another car? YES, and it will be an Acura, and I will buy it from Joel at Ron Tonkin Acura.
Thanks for your time."

I'll take that rear left tire as a memory... maybe the front right one, and the doors too...

THAT'S HONDA/ACURA ENGINEERING FOR YA! A while back, I saw an Accord that had been rear-ended. The only thing was, the backseat WAS the rear-end now! It had been rear-ended hard enough that the trunk was crumpled up to the rear tires. And the surprising thing was that I saw this car being DRIVEN on the HIGHWAY!

what the hell kind of pickup was that??? great story.
but if he was in a subaru he would have survived too. anyone remember that thread with the dude getting rear ended by an 18-wheeler and plowed him into/under another 18-wheeler? that was crazy. the dude walked away unharmed.

he said he used the car for business, so the loss is tax deductable and his insurance money is tax deferred if he reinvests it in another car of equal or more value.
i'm still amazed he walked out with no broken bones. The driver cabine looks compeletely destoryed.

i want!!! sheesh yeah that reminded me of the subaru wrx that got rear ended by an 18 wheeler into another 18 wheeler. crazy japanese safety engineers.
I'm glad he's alright. Very lucky. Everyone must keep in mind that modern car wrecks look MUCH worse than those of 10-20 years ago. Modern vehicles are made to sacrifice themselves for its passengers. So even moderate accidents end up looking quite bad because the car is being crushed to absorb the energy before it can be transferred to the passengers. Having said that, it is still hard to believe anyone walked away from that crash.
