I dont go to 1st all that often on the street... as I dont drive 10/10ths on the street. For autocross, depends on the track. I may or may not need to drop down to 1st for a corner or two.

Regarding how often... Well I have 2 1/2 years worth of autocross on the car, thats about 40 events with an average of 8 - 40 Second runs per event... Thats some where in the range of 3.5 Hours of track time on the car, over the course of 2 1/2 years. Then add in open track time.... which is about another 2-3 hours.... so thats about 6 hours worth of abusing my car.

i doubt our trannies will handle that much abuse. just from normal wear my trannys weaksauce. honda makes cheap trannies.
