I really need lower insurance payments then a civic or rsx.

How are the payments for a 2.5rs, ralliart, tC, or wrx? What would you like with that price range? Thanks! Rep for people who help and not flame of course

im pretty sure all those cars will be higher cuz there all considered sports cars while the civic might be considered a economy car, especially a 4dr civic. if you want a lower payment wait till ur older or dont get tickets and stuff

Hmm, I thought it all depended on your driving record and if the car you want to buy has high nationwide insurance costs. I totalled my civic, but that was because I lost control on the snow. I never got into an accident before then, and never got a police report or ticket.

this is more a "member's rides" kind of thread, but since it delves into general payment information for some other types of cars i'll let it slide.

civic should be the lower of the bunch, specially a 4dr. it depends on if its brand new and stuff like that as well. my insurance doubled when i bought a brand new civic. find an older (96-00) coupe or sedan whichever you prefer and it will be much cheaper.

well if ur a young kid, ur insurance will be high regardless and a sports car will just add to that a lil. if you want a safer car, maybe like a volvo or saab i guess. the civic tho is a pretty cheap car with cheap insurance. I notice also if its a new car, it has a higher insurance then say a used car because the used car has less value then a newer one. With 25k if u want a volvo, not sure if ur into those, u can look at a s40, there a big nice sedan with decent mileage, i think like 25mpg. Real safe car cuz volvo is all safety, known for it. Not sure how much saabs run, maybe 25k or a lil more, but the 9-3 sports sedans are hot. comes with a turbo, xenon projectors, etc.

Very nice. Yeah I am only 17. I used to pay 350 a month, but I won't mind if it goes up a bit. If it would hit 450-500 a month, then that would suck. My parents pay for the insurance. I'll be putting in 13,000 for the car, and the rest will be helped out by my parents.

^^QBoi.. From what I've heard..at least here in MD.. if you get a 3.0+ GPA, your insurance goes down by a bunch. (i.e smart kids = smart drivers) lol

Get a bright car also.. red has lowest insurance rate here. Don't flame this is MD lol.

I thought that too, b/c they say you are more inclined to race or some b.s. Maybe that could stem from the fact that people notice the bright colors more so they see it coming and avoid accidents, I dunno though.

i heard that red and other bright cars have a higher chance of getting tickets from the popos, maybe thats why its cheaper b/c the insurance comp. are hoping that you get tickets to jack your rate up.

I pay 160 a month for my ralliart thru allstate. When I shopped for the WRX, allstate quoted me 170 a month.

Most likely it will fault you if they have to pay *any* money. Id look into the tC as the mass quanitites of airbags may lower insurance. I believe the 2.5rs will also have a bit less for being awd. See if you can take a defensive driving course which will lower insurance rates considerably. I think its like 60-120 bucks for the class....now wheres my rep

*edit* also with the amount of money you save with buying a tC, you can make it look pretty nice or invest or something

How about a TSX. That's a sedan, which is versatile, get's fairly good gas mileage and is much peppier than a Civic. Add in all kinds of standard features and it's a steal at $27k ish

color of your car means nothing to insurance companies.. unless it some exotic paint that cost a fortune to rapair if you car is in an accident

and HorrorSkopes how the Hell are you only paying 160 a month and is that with collision and a policy of greater than 25/50K payout for injuries... i'm only asking because i dont know anyone paying that little with full insurance

your insurance will only go down when you are 25 it will slowly go down after 18 but a big drop after 25. some other things that lower insurance costs are if you have other insurance with the company ie house ect. if your married. good grades, your a male i think so your insurance is higher then a womans.

color can have a differance like red ect. reason is they are spoted more by cops hence clocked more hence higher ticket rait. it does not matter if you speed or not it will be higher due to thats the national average and they dont do a case by case basis on that sort of thing. (could be a myth)

another major thing is air bags ect. the more air bags the less insurance. my gf went from a 90 to a 92 car. the 90 had no air bags the 92 has one and insurance went way down for her.
it seems like you want to pay less but all the cars you listed your going to pay more due to less of a safty raiting i belive and they are also conciterd sports type of cars. you cant have a better car without having to pay more insurance.

funny thing is every one that i know that is smart and gets deductions that way are horrible drivers IQ does not = streat smarts ect.

I pay less than that for two cars.....I pay 125/mo for a 2004 element ex and a 2002 solara se. However, I am 25 and married with a child. They dont expect the family guy to be an auto-enthusiast. Boy are they wrong

Plus I got USAA and they are really good about being fair

i'm paying less than 100 each month for comprehensive and i'm still under 25...
i'm getting it thru statefarm but it's not going to change much for me once i reach 25 since i pretty much have all the discounts they can give me...
maybe I told them i'm using the car for leisure rather than for work...
(i only drive in the weekend.. i take the train to work everyday...)

To get the cheapest insurance rate, a number of factors have to be considered.

Things YOU can help:

1- Get a safer car, one with preferably 5-star crash ratings in as many categories as possible.

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/ncap/

In this instance, my Jetta has 5/5 frontal crash and 4/5 side crash. Comparitivley, quite safe. Therefore, my insurance should be cheaper than a 2000 Nissan Altima, with 4/5 for frontal and 3/5 for side. And it is!

Just be sure to compare cars of similar weight and power. A V6 sedan is going to be more expensive than its 4-cylinder counterpart.

As a general rule... The fatter and slower your car is, the cheaper the insurance.

2- Don't get any tickets.
3- Forget sports cars. 2-doors coupes are OK, as long as they aren't over a particular HP limit. A mitsu. Eclipse GTS and Celica GTS are way more expensive than a 2-door EX, and <possibly> more than an Si.

Things you can't help.
1- You have a *****.
2- You're under 26.
3- Whatever previous driving record you have.
