?Swap or 8thgen?
Would you guys swap your d17 for a k20? Or just buy a spanking new 06 Si when it comes out?? As for myself im thinking im going to swap to k20a2 and turbo. Idk though, 8th gen civic sounds sexy too. What you guys think?

8th gen civic si. Then if I ever wanted to sell my new si, the resale would still be pretty good and I wouldnt have to part it out.

what? so the new si isnt performance anymore? you barely know any of the specs. im not saying i know, but I would rather have a reliable brand new si that would keep its value then a hybrid that would lose its value fast.

i say just wait and get a new 06 si. Your going to get more bang for your buck with the new si. Your going to have the same hp with the new si as if you swapped it, but your going to get rear and front disk brakes with better suspension stock, with 17'' rims. You'll probably end up spending more money by swapping and upgrading the suspension to equal that of the new 06 si stock. Unless you really low your 7th gen, i would just get a 8th gen.

I'm sure if you find a doner rsx type s and do all the labor yourself you can get most of the 06 civic si stuff in your 7th gen for less then 10 grand. But then, you've paid xx amound for your 7thgen, and pushed another 6-10g worth of swap material into it. You don't get those curtain air bags, its a bitch to install, no LSD, and possibly no tweaked suspension
if you decide to sell the car, you will most likely sell at a loss. if you part it out, you will go through hours of labor.

I have a 1st year 7thgen. No problems at all except excessive wind noise and peeling cloth from my door panels.
I spent 1425 points to do this.

i always told myself id hold on to my vic until it died (after all the financing this sh*t is gonna cost me over $20k!)... That means Id hold onto it for more than 200k miles (I never race, and never go past 4k rpm- I shift very carefully too)- which means about 10 more years with the car!
I dont think I'll last much longer though, not with that nice a$$ si coming out...grrrrrrrrr why do they have to come out with all this temptimg stuff all the time!?

If the Si stays around 90% of the concept vehicle (As suggested in the press release), I'd seriously think about getting the 8th gen. If it's nowhere close, then I'd swap & turbo your 7th gen.
i dunno, i saw a pic of the 8th gen in a magazine, i only saw the euro style, and that thing was ugly. any one see pics of the american 8th gen? i'd d the swap, k20a type r 220 hp, then add turbo, get you around 300,

Quick specs from the links:
At least 200 HP, 16 valve DOHC i-VTEC 8k redline
6MT w/ helical LSD
4-wheel disks
Concept has 18's but speculation is that it'll be 17's w/ 18's as an option.

Next stop, Ferrari's pal! Oh snap they got nothing on me.
I'd rather keep my paid off 7th gen and swap. More money for mods, and I'm not throwing away money on interest payments to honda or some othere banking institute.
I'd be more happy with a swap, IMO!
