I went to Rodeo Drive(Beverly Hills) the other day, and a 76 station had 87 Octane for 2.39 a gallon. With 91 octane at 2.61. 2.61!!!
Back a couple months when gas was even more expensive, I was desperate and had to fill up for 3.01 a gallon at a Shell station.

People in america are bitchin way too much about the price of gas , I mean considering the price of water at many gas stations is more expensive per liter than gas, and no one seems to complain about that.

You live in NYC where a personal car is just not in high demand as in Los Angeles. Majority of people here in Los Angeles drive to other cities for their jobs or schools. Sometimes more than 100 miles a day. I mean, you can easily take a couple trains from Mineola to Central Park costing you upwards of 6 bucks, where as to you need to drive everywhere around here. When you go and fill up your tank every week with insanely high prices such as 2.30 a gallon, your not gonna bitch and complain?

Well, one of the things about American culture is cheap gas. I mean, when people think of the average American house hold, people say they would have a house and two cars. I'm just saying that American's aren't used to seeing extremely high gas prices like overseas. In fact, the price of gas is so cheap, that it sells far better than diesel compared to foreign countries where diesel is perfered.
It's $1.99 here for midgrade.

Another thing is try not to run your car to empty. First, without liquid (in this case your gasoline), the fuelpump can overheat leading to shorten pump life. Second, as volume of gasoline decreases, the concentration of junk (slugde, dirt, particles, ...etc.) increases. Thus increasing the chance of a clogged fuel filter or clogged injector nozzle.
If you can avoid it, try to stay above the "E" on the fuel gauge.

How can you compare the price of bottled water to the price of gas. You don' t need to buy more than a 2liter bottle of water daily to survive while you could use as much as 2 gal of gas to commute to work (depending on traffic where you stay) Bottle of water at gas station is considered as ''luxury'' product since you can just drink tap water from home but can you say the same about gasI mean let's just compare apple with apple
