People, stop hatin'
Has anybody else noticed all the 2k1 owners who seem to hate there cars. Always complaining that there is not an aftermarket for our cars yet. I personally think that our cars have shyteloads of power potential. I mean look at one of the facts. Our cars have the same HP as the last gen civic EX however we have about ten extra ft/lb of torque. Aftermarket does not happen over night. Do you think that one day the 94 civic appeared and presto the next day they turbos and headers? Not. Also what kind of shyte do you think early honda tuners took when they told their friends "Yeah I'm tuning a civic." Now those cars churn out like 400 hp and blow the doors off vettes and stangs because of the high power to wieght ratio. So c'mon guys lets give our cars some time and just stop hatin'
they must have not told you about the swaps. our engine bay is too small to do anything with. you can look at aem's drag 7th gen and see that they had to modify the whole front of the car in order to fit an engine into the bay "sideways". anyways people should have bought the car for what it is and not for what it could be. because it would be better off to buy a hb civic if you wanted to do a swap and race. but these get excellent gas mileage and look decent. just my .02
All in-line, four cylinder engines are capable of up to 600 HP, not saying you can get it that high, but it does have that potential. And the emissions part will be taken care of after my warranty has expired. The first thing I'm gonna do is hollow out that cat. then replace the throttle body. And a B16a or a B16c. will fit in our cars....if you have the money and time and the means, it will fit and run like a beauty. But anyways, I love my car...you'll never hear me hate on my car. I had roughly 25,000 to spend on a car, and I drove off in a 2001 Honda Civic Satin Silver, EX Coupe. : ) And believe me, when I am done with her....she's gonna run like a bad ***.
And rallyred2k1civic....dude your car can be extremely fast. You put some time and effort into it, and your serious about what you want the goal of the car to be.....it will get there in time. From computers, to fuel injection, to ignition......there is tons and tons of sh*it you can do to your car. And parts will arise, it takes time.....I've seen parts that are just now coming out for 93's and stuff....that was almost 9 years ago, but better late than never.
By the way....Merry Christmas !!

Uhhh...AEM's drag civic is totally tube frame, custom built, i dont think they had the structure of the 7th gen civic's frame in mind when making it, the only similarity is the fiberglass body. Hell they couldve put a lambo v12 in there if they wanted to, just build the frame and balance the body out.
The main reason they made the engine sideways is so that the huge *** front drag wheels would fit under the body, as well as getting the weight of the engine on those wheels.
Just thought id let ya know .

Actually I love my car
It's simple. I did my research prior to buying the vehicle and i knew it was EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED. nothing more, nothing less.

ceas.. >>
he prolly means a B18 which i highly doubt will run great. Just lose the 2k1 get an EG and GS-R turbo and your done

exactly.
unfortunately there's too many car owners that buys their car for the completely wrong reason, not knowing a thing about what they're buying at all.
hey, I know some of us got it for gifts, so I guess complaining then would make sense, sorta. but IMO, if you buy the 7th gen civic (excluding the si) so you can try to make it go fast... you either know a lot, or have no clue at all. heh.

I bought my 2k1 EX for cash up front. I could have easily bought a RSX Type-S and get that paid off within a year. Then my mileage wouldn't be about 35 mpg, I'd pay $$$ for insurance. For the money I pay more in insurance for the RSX, I'd have enough to buy a 1990 240SX in a year. In the second year, I'd have saved enough money from insurance to put an SR20DET in the 240SX. My 2k1 is a perfect A to B car and it looks great too. If I wanted pure performance, the Civic isn't the way to go. But who says that the trip from A to B has to be slow?
