Rep Power: 295 ^^Holy ****, that would be a monster!!!
Actually the guy says that Honda borrowed alot of the S2000 technology from mazda, like the LSD is actually an RX7 diff, with a different casing, that among other stuff.

Rep Power: 559 yeah, i can believe that. the miata was like the 1st all business, affordable roadster that really became a popular seller. im not surprized that honda would use that as a benchmark to build on. if it aint broke, why fix it? lol

the LSD is not an RX7 diff. It's a torsen LSD. This type of LSD is used in many cars.

Rep Power: 295 ^actually I misread that...he said that they used the internals of the Mazda 7" diff...not an RX7.
I dont know how true that is though, I dont know any of the guys on Miata.net, so I dont know which ones are blowing smoke.
I would think Honda would be able to design the S2000 on their own, so I think the guy was probably noticing that both cars engineering were very similar (due to being influenced by the same old school roadsters), & making his own assumptions from that...who knows.

Rep Power: 304 Well, being that many parts on cars are made by third party manufacturers and then marketed to the car companies, it wouldn't surprise me that the internals of the LSD's are relatively similar.
I do remember that back in 1997 I was reading a Motor Trend Magazine and they had spy shots of the S2K. They mentioned that it was being tested in Germany, and that BMW aided in the aesthetic design. Could be Motor Trend full of **** though.

Rep Power: 356 hmm ok so the miata is about 1100 pounds lighter than the s2k, and the sk2 runs with an average driver around 13.7-14. and from what ive heard every 100 pound= 1/10 of a second. witch means that thing should be doing really low 13's or high 12's depending on the driver. not bad at all.
