Smile Driving = Therapy?

Driving is a form of therapy for me. Anytime I feel sad, depressed or whatever, I just jump in my car and take a drive and I feel better. I have tried to explain this to some people but I dont think they understand. Does anyone else feel like this?

Yeah sometimes after a long day at work I actually look forward to my long commute. Kinda like alone time for me to unwind. That is until some jerk cuts me off.. lol

^^^ I agree too, but the times when u let ppl **** you off and you have to cut them off in return or slow people **** you off then u get mad and drive fast, in those instances I just feel dumb for doing it, but when im calm, driving is very relaxing and a good stress reliever for me too, cant really pin point exactally why..

even road rage makes me feel better, in the end. i can shout and gesture all i want, and they can't hear (or see!) me.

I do that too for sure. I tend to speed if im mad and if im sad Im a very mellow driver. When I need to vent or calm down instead of beating on someone or yelling I just get out and there and do my thing on the road. Way better then seeing a therapist

I COMPLETELY agree with everything said. All the time if I am feeling sad, I just go for a drive.

LOL, same here. In spite of the traffic, bad drivers, etc. I still find my commute home to be a nice way to unwind after a long day at work. Thats why no matter how much cheaper it would be for me to take public transit to work (since I work downtown) I never will.

My car is the place i do all my thinking. If im sad, mad, angry, whatever mood i drive around the beautiful valley by me and let it all go. I am one of those people who never busts out in anger and freaks out, but i hold it in alot. when im in my car, as slow as it is, i feel kinda free from all of that. I could drive all day and all night. My girlfriend doesnt get it but I really like the feeling of just me, my car, and the road. Driving is definitely my Anti-Drug.

driving is very therapeutic for me...however I think it can be bad sometimes when I'm mad. I walk out to my car thinking "I am gonna drive the living hell outta this car right now"...and I cant help feeling guilty that I'm hurting my baby when I'm revving really high...lol

depressed? shitty day? angry?
ill either go for a drive or ride my bike around.
i usually take the car though, im more relaxed in it. on the motorcycle you have to keep an eye out for idiots trying to kill you.

the therapy effect gets better in the spring...i live at a university. the boss and i will go out driving around campus, smoking and just cruising.

/the girls wear less when it's warm out

in the winter, i drive out in the country (except when there's snow or ice out ). i know every road that has an interesting corner on it within 20 miles.

Isn't it so weird how driving just feels so good, your so happy to get a new one, and it is a hobby for most of us. But when you think about it, its just to get from pt A to pt B
i hate when ppl say that but it kinda is true when it is sitting in the garage and you are doing house type things
