removing stock radio

i have looked at the diy that is on the site and im sorry to say its not so helpful.
i took out the cig lighter and removed the two bolts that are talked about in the diy. now im trying to pull out that plastic surrounding the stereo and the ***** and stuff. im having difficulty taking it out because i dont want to snap it and i dont want to ruin the dash with scratches and indentations from screwdrivers or something.
anybody who has taken theres out if you could post on wether or not theres more bolts or i have to remove something else too or whatever please post. thanks

Theres no more bolts, I just did mine this weekend. What you need to do is reach up behind the head unit, through the hole where the cig lighter panel was and push out. When you see a small crack where the paneling is coming out some. Take a wide screwdriver and put it in the crack and gently push out with it. Once you hear a tiny pop that clip is out then move the screwdriver over a little ways and do it again, keep going all the way around the panel and it will come out. I didnt want to put a screwdriver in there either but I couldnt get it so I did and it worked great and no scratches or anything to the vinyl. Just be gentle and dont get angry!

thanks ill find a wider screwdriver to use now that i know thats what to do...
but the only problem is that i had a few out until i got above the hazard light button and it seemed impossible to pry it off so i thought maybe there was a screw or maybe i need to pop off the button first (my vents are out )

fingers over screwdriver

YOU DON'T NEED A SCREWDRIVER FOR THAT PART!!!!!! a screwdriver may still leave indentations (metal is stronger than plastic, think about it...) Once you push from the back, and get a few clips popped, your fingers will do just fine for pulling out the headunit from around the edges!!!

^agreed
altho the first time u pop it out it takes quite a bit of force to push it out. i suggest u get help with someone, one person pushes it out from the back the other checks for gap underneath and pulls. make sure u work all around the center piece tho.

and u said theres just the top that doesnt seem to pop off, well thats cuz theres a clip on top that didnt pop, so dont worry just pull and it'll come out

i used a panel popper, on the console, didnt leave any indentations. you can also use brute strength its kinda hard on the first try.

I tried as much brute force as I could, and it was no good.... so I used the screwdriver method....... = (
