front windshield tinting is so dumb. you can't see at night and when it rains forget about being able to see anything. also don't get into an accident because the other driver will just blame it on your windshield even if it's not your fault.

seeing at night would be hard *** hell, even if you tinted it at 50%.
the only place i know where almost everyone tints their front windshield is nevada.
but go for it if you want...

Oh my Lord..
btw jtegx i like your avatar, thats what I was doing when i saw this thread ok anyways..
so my friend who's not really my friend anymore (stupidity is contagious) decides wow you know what, since my car already has the logos shaved, and a bunch of sponsorship decals on it, what the hell, why not add more stupidity to his non-show car and tint the car, and ALSO the front windshield. Despite warnings about visual impairment at night by the tinters, he did it anyways.
So I didn't think much about it at first just how i would have NEVER DONE THAT. the next weekend, we went to big bear mountain to go snowboarding. We took off fairly early but that still didn't save us from the despair that was rush hour. so we finally got up the mountain around sunset, where visual impairment started to become a factor, especially considering the drop... would have been death indefinately. In most cases around this time I trusted my driver, he knew his car. But this time, it had already started snowing in the last 10 minutes, so we took more time to drive but it still didnt stop what happened. he couldn't see the road, So we were going about 30 when we lost control and hit the side rail before almost plunging 3,000 feet to our damn deaths.
It was already evident what caused the accident, visual impairment. he just wasn't used to it and even if he was, it was so god damn messed up I can't see how anyone would wana risk their lives just because they wana look cool, or some other jacked up justification to tint the front windshield. just dont do it.
by the way, why does 'oncoming traffic' hate you?

You can also argue that in the summer the glare of the sun gets people killed and that a good tint could have saved them.
Either way, we're not talking limo tints. There are so many many many cars here with light to medium tints on their front windshield around here and they have no problems. Here we have winter for more than half the year.
There's a certain percent tint that's completely legal anyways, but that's for you to find out for your area. In Manitoba it's 35% I believe.

My best friend tinted the windshield of his si and we loved it, it wasn't too dark because he used the second lightest shade of tint. The rest of his car was tinte with limo tint so it looked pretty clean all the way around. One time he got pulled over by the fine Temecula police department for his limo tint, however, they didn't mention anything about his windshield. then he rolled the car, something about trying to drift in the ortega mountains.

u know tiniting all the other wiindows darkens the compartment, making u really hard to see from the P.O.V. of on coming traffic.
i have my front window tinted with two layers on the doors and back. It dark as hell in my car and sometimes can be lil hard to see but not bad at all. i have had it done for 2.5 yrs and never once been stopped

I have V-cool on my windshield. It's a very light tint, you can hardly notice it. V-cool is more for UV protection, and it stops about 85% heat as well. I have it because of my eyes. I have a doctors written note for it, which there is an excemption for. The V-cool is so light, but it dramatically cuts glare. I can actually see BETTER at night.
It cost $250 or the windshield, though.
It's NOT tint. Hard to explain, you'd have to see it for yourself. It was actually meant for office buildings.

us people with DVD players wouldnt DARE do such a thing with all the light inside the car from the screen...hard enough to see out with no tint!
DO NOT TINT THE FRONT!
At night, you cant see anything plus you risk getting a ticket. I had it on and got a ticket because I couldnt open/close the windows for a couple days after tinting my windows.

lol just settle for a windsheild top banner tint strip. it blocks the morning sun pretty good! Im glad i have it becuase i goto school at 7 AM and the sun is really blinding high up.
Another thing to consider. fully tinting your car all around (including full windsheild tint) will reduce range on your remote alarm.

im not talking about dark tint, a very light shade of some sort. like 10% or 5%
theirs this special type of tint called "uvl" or something like that. but what it does is reduce the amount of sunrays actually going thru your window into the car interior. i beleive its a clear tint and i was thinking... would that special tint help reduce the amount of light/glare of a cars headlights? anyone know?
i think it'd be the best solution because 1) its a clear shade. minimal to no darkness at all, 2) legal since it doesnt affect anybody but just help me, and 3) no one would even notice it unless they look real closely and look for the outer border of the 'tint'.
and 4) why would it be stupid? their are much much more stupid things drivers do.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. DO NOT TINT the front window. It messes up the way the winshield breaks in an accident. Instead of cracking like it is supposed to, it is similar to a brick wall. Tinting the front winshield could potentially kill you. DO NOT DO IT.
