ByeBye Engine!!
Well... it was a regular day this Thursday:
It was cloudy, I went to work. Then that night, last day this semester in college, went to make a presentation and went out happy cause the semester is over. The night were clear in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Driving home I took a REALLY REALLY HEAVY RAIN and the road I use to take from college to my house is flooded so easily that I thought: "well, I better take the highway so I don't have problems with the car". And there I go... got into the highway, visibility was almost NULL, at no more than 20mph I felt the engine amost shuts and when I look around I already was in the middle of A LOT OF WATER. The engine shuts off and this nice girl in an SUV helped me to get out of there. I tried to start my engine again and.... BOOOM... my engine was blown. Towed my car home. Then next morning went down to see how it was and.... I HAVE A NASTY HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK!!!
I thought just the rod were going to be broken, but nop, I have a hole in the block!!!
Well... now I have to buy a block!.... or a whole engine wich is just not good for me cause I'm going thru an economical problem right now so it happened in the worst moment.
Just wanted to let you all know.

k20 is not a good time if your tight on money. You can get a d17 on ebay for 350 many times! I can get wholesale prices on engines in AZ, for prob about 5-600. Would be my guess on a used good shape engine. My nissan engine that blew was 800 or 850 installed. try seeing if they can go down a few hundred, or if you know somebody in auto sales/leasing/loans (owner or managers) ask them to call a shop and ask for you. My dads in auto leasing, so i can call anywhere and just use their company name in AZ. prob Vegas too

**** bro, that must suck so bad.. how much miles did u have on the engine ?
well anyways hope everything works out
Thank you all!
Exclusive VTEC, eventho my car is a 2001, my engine only has arround 27,500 miles on it. I mostly use it for work, college, and I'm not that type of guy that hangs out a lot on weekends.
At least my friends and I would do the install, they are professional mechanics and they will help me out with that.
All of you who said that this is NOT the best time for a K20 swap, you are RIGHT!!
Remember, with another D17A2 I would only need the engine, but if I get a K series I would need mounts, tranny, axis, ECU, etc etc etc. And I can't afford it right now.
Thank you all for your references. I will look closer to find another D17A2 for less than what I founded.
Oh... but I have good news... my brother called me today. He told my father (who doesn't live with us) what happened and my father will give me a Christmass present: $500.00 Cash, and will borrow me another $500.00!!!
I usually avoid to ask for money to my family or friends, I believe that's why they always help me when they see that I really need. I'm happy!
Well, I'll let you know the news.

yeah....i threw a rod this summer...took it up to honda and the waranty covered it. is your waranty still valid. if so...take of ur intake (im guessing you have an aftermarket one) and replace i w/ the stock one. good luck on ur car man
ill sell you mine. just finished my swap. 02 ex motor and tranny. 45k miles for $350 + shipping. was asking $400 but id be willing to cut a deal. let me know man or definately good luck with that. that really sux
yep, I had an Injen RD Cold Air Intake
Isuzu5000, right now I'm trying that first. Guess what?... I called my Local Honda Dealer just for asking the price of a quote, but I didn't mention the car was in a flood, so they told me "call Honda Road Side Assistance, and towing to the dealer will be covered by the warranty", so I did that, I took out my Cold Air Intake and putted on the OEM intake system. Now I hope they just don't notice the car were in a flood. By the way... my car just had 3 days left on warranty by the time I had the problem. They took the car to the dealer on Saturday and I'm just waiting for their call to see what could happen.
WANTATURBO, thank you very much for your offer!!! I will deffinately think about it if the warranty just don't cover it.
