Help me choose
I'm looking at a few different cars to replace the civic with. Tell me what you would choose between these two and why. The car will be a daily driver and also be used occasionally for family trips. Thanks
2005 Accord Sedan 3.0 lx - $22,400
Automatic
2004 Maxima SE - $23,700
6-Speed manual
w/limited slip

well if its a daily driver i say the accord. daily driver shouldnt really be something that goes fast, instead something thats comfortable to drive in every day. and with family u prolly dont want to have to be shifting all the time. also would u be in traffic often?

The manual was actually my choice. Automatic would be the same price, but I prefer stick.

I would normally tell you to get the Honda but it doesnt have a manual tranny. In this case go for the Maxima. I think it has the VQ35DE in it. There are a boat load of mods for that engine.

Accord... The V6 is sweet and smooth. It's also got that sporty quality that has put it on Car and Drivers' top ten list yet again. Like mentioned, you'll also get better gas mileage.

FYI, accord quarter mile time: 14.50, maxima quarter mile time: 15.00. thats manual vs manual, so really theyd be right around equal in performance when comparing automatic accord to manual maxima.
if your civic now is 5-speed ....id go wit the MAXIMA I had alot of friends buy auto after they had 5-speed cars all there lives and they said it was the worst mistake...dont know why... but i kinda understand
I sure wish my car was newer

I'd pick the Maxima simply because I've driven both and I prefer the Maxima. I had more fun driving it, and I'll never again buy a car that isn't fun to drive. The Accord just about put me to sleep. Silly reasoning, but that's my choice.

Thanks for the input fellas. Next step is to see how well the carseat fits in each

definitely maxima. interior room is pretty much the same. any difference is really not noticeable.
the maxima, however, has always been a more sporty car. the HP numbers might be less, and the 1/4 mile times lower, but the ride is sportier for sure. nissans have always had that niche. besides, 1/4 mile times dont mean jack. take those cars out for a test drive on some twisty roads and see which you like best. true, its gonna be a daily driver, but why get a car that handles like a pig anyway? i havent driven either of the new cars, so im only comparing older models.
plus its a manual. i would never drive an automatic again unless i had to.

Honda Accord Hybrid 255 hp 3.0L V6 $29,990
28-35 MPG
Anyway, I still say Accord. The carseat was meant to fit in that thing. It's supposed to be a family car and a daily driver w/ lots of room.

I think I'm currently leaning towards the Maxima. Normally I couldn't afford it, but I'll be saving a ton since it's an '04. I checked out the Altima se-r and the Accord Hybrid, but they're a little more than I'd like to spend.

So, I went back to Nissan yesterday to test drive the auto Maxima with tipronic(or whatever Nissan calls it). Definitely not impressed with that setup. The shifting still felt out of my control.
On a side note - During my test drive I saw a new Lotus Elise in the highway. Do you think my daughter's carseat will fit in one of those.......j/k
