Important Question
Some a$$ backed into my car and chipped and cracked my front bumper when my car was parked. It was a hit and run, i notified police but if i call my insurance company will it make my insurance go up or not. I dont wanna call them because then they know i got hit??
In my experience with this crap (the same thing happened to my wife 2 weeks ago) if you notify the police, your insurance will find out about it because they put all the incident info under your drivers license #. So what happens is, when your policy renews, that might show up. Whether or not they hold it against you, that is up to them (your insurance co.). If the damage is pretty bad, depending on your deductible, you might just file a claim. Since you were not driving it should fall under comprehensive coverage and it most likely won't affect your rates. It's up to you, so do what is most financially acceptable to you. Good luck!

see the only way they will raise the insurance is if you file. I drove into a truck and messed up my bumper a wee bit... I asked the ins. company if it was worth going through them to fix. it would have cost a total of 700 and I would have had to pay a 500 deductible. which means all they had to pay was 200. It wasn't worth it for me to deal with the ins. Oh and this happened to my parents and the car got messed up real bad.. the insurance company didn't raise there rates. however they have been with this ins. company for ever... (all state) that is who I have too. If you call you don't have to give your name... just tell them the situation.

Thanks for all who responded.
This is the other part the night it happened there was this van at my neigbors house, which i parked behind. They partied all night long so loud till 6 am at least. When i woke up the next morning van was gone and my car been hit. I talked to police and they said its up to me, see im not a tattle tale etc but the cop said he would talk to my neigbor to see who it was, should i or is this going to be a long thing that sux. So im about 99.9% think it was that van. So i could have an investigation going but i dunno, i personnaly dont like cops and i never rat on people.

You're probably best off letting it go. Even if you do find the van owner, he'll deny anything happened and it is unlikely you'll be able to prove it was him. His insurance company isn't going to pay, and neither will he. That leaves you with a potentially pissed off neighbor and the possibility that the van drive may retaliate if you push too hard.
I'd recommend finding someone to crash into you in the same spot and have them pay to repair both accidents...

hmm yeah I would think you would be better off letting it go but let the punk in the van know you aren't stupid and to watch out, learn how to drive a vehicle that big... and if they can't drive it sell it, save the world from all the pollution it gives off. damn jerks

I have called and reported an accident that was my fault. The other guy claimed on my insurance, and I did not. They called me, and asked if it was my fault. I just said yes, it was my fault. I did not fix my car since it was so little and would cost more for the deductable. But nothing got raised on me. If they dont pay anything, they wont raise anything.
