Anyone get a leak under glove compartment after carwash?

Weird!

My 2002 Civic EX just started leaking car wash soap after taking it to a car wash. I noticed the color soap under the glove box, coming down slowly onto the passenger side carpet. The car has 80000km's on it, I think whatever it is should be covered by warranty. Does anyone else have this problem?? Do you think it might have something to do with the cold? ( It was -10 yesterday ), and then the hot water coming in maybe caused some damage somewhere? I hope this is fixable! I don't want rust to start forming anywhere near the firewall! i had an 85 accord that literally cracked in half at the firewall due to rust!

Any help would be GRRREAT! Thanks!

Don't have that problem, but then again, I've never washed my car when it was freezing out. In my opinion, that's just asking for trouble.

The hot water gets into the nooks and crannies that you can't dry off, then freezes (expanding while doing so).

Civics are POS's...they are almost the lowest class of new car avilable. As soon as I can get rid of mine I will.

You probably have a grommet popped out of the firewall...peel back your carpet under the dash and take a look. You could also have a leak coming in via the floor HVAC vents if you got condensation in there from the A/C or humid/damp weather.

Woah man...7 posts and you're already being a jerk....CALM.....

A lot of people don't have the time for a hand wash...so they make a quick run out to the car wash. As for the leak, I'd say yeah, probably firewall issue......although if it's the soap leaking down, it's probably not from an underbody spray...IMO, it's probably coming through the wiper cowl....just outta curiosity, since I don't own a civic, I'm not sure, but you guys have an open-air vent, right? Not sure if they even still bother with them...but if so, was the vent open? Could've leaked down through there....

the sun roof has a drain tube that runs down the inside of the car and out through the side just befor each door and under the dash. the tube could have popped out or the side wall and is now draining in to your car. It should be a clear tube. if you look under your dash you will see it.

Wow....punctuation owns your ***....and yeah, last I checked, sarcasm didn't show through text....but I guess your IQ has to reach 30 before that realization hits.

My parents' TL had this problem and they said it was a bad windshield seal. We had just gotten the windshield replaced and it began to leak under the glovebox. Might not be it, but sounds similar.

I haven't had this leaking problem, as far as I know, but does your assesment of the Civic extend to all Honda's? The reason I ask, is that I am thinking of getting an Accord. I bought the Civic thinking it was the top small car out there, but I too think it has mediocrity built into it (with some strong points, but I don't have enough miles on it yet to be sure). If the mediocrity of the Civic is systemic, then it would logically follow that the Accord is flawed as well. Should we stay away from Hondas altogether, and go to a larger Japanese manufacturer that shall remain nameless?

well...are you using the drive thru wash? if so, thats a mistake in itself. but if your washing it pressure wash style then just make sure that your not squirting it into the cracks of your car. its also not good to wash your car when its -10 degrees outside (where the hell do you live by the way) especially when you apply hot water to it. that might make some objects crack. i know class is prone to that.

i love the noob-syndrome
