Any '01-02 owners thinking about buying an '05?
Any '01-02 owners thinking about buying an '05?
Since 2005 appears to be the last year of the 7th gen, I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to get one before the 8th gens arrive. I sounds like most of the bugs have been worked out of the 7th gens and the spy shots of the '06s don't look so good. If I did get an 8th gen I would probably wait until the '07s because the '01 had a lot of bugs, and the '06s probably won't be any different. The Civic is ok, and I like having it during this oil situation, but maybe the next car will be an Accord. We'll see.
supposedly, cars depreciate faster when there is a newer, better model out. Say you bought an 02 new, and a year laterthe 03 came out very similar, then the depreciation is very low. But if you get an 05, and the 06 is so nasty that no one wants the 05, the value will go down. I am still waiting on what the engine will be in the new one.
neither. i prefer performance personally and wouldn't buy a civic just because of that. if i wanted an affordable, reliable, gas saving ecnomical car, then the civic would definately be it.
i have an '02 coupe and briefly looked at getting an '05 sedan. I am getting kinda tierd of the big coupe doors, and the 04-05 sedan styling is way better than the 01-03. but i got turned off by the whole thing when they made me an offer on my '02 for a trade in.

It makes no sense to me for you to trade your working civic 02 for a working 05 civic. Your loosing money for nothing. If your car has been driven to the max and you love civics than I understand but I'm guessing the engine is still running.

I tend to agree with some of the others... if I do decide to get another vehicle, which is rather unlikely since my '01 sedan only has 23,500 miles on it so far, I'll probably move up to the Accord sedan (maybe even a V6). Although I do like the Civic's manuverability, I think I'd like to have something a bit more substantial if I was going to spring for more car payments.
I could change my mind when I actually see an '06, though...

I have an 01 civic with 43,000 miles on it and I plan on driving it till it dies. I spent like 18,000 on it which I earned all on my own and I just recently paid it off. I don't understand why people trade their cars in so early. I'd rather keep my car another 8 years and save up my money. There are more important things in life then having a new car every 3 years.
Well let's just say I bought an 01 civic in october of 2000. I believe I was the first in Las Vegas to have one, and because of it's early production date (august of 2000) the car was quite problematic. Sliding driver's seat, shredded motor mounts after 35,000 miles, creaky suspension etc.
I traded the car in for a 2004 civic sedan EX in magnesium about 5 months ago, and I feel like it was a good choice. Because I have the Mazda, I don't drive it that often, but when I do, I'm amazed at how much better the 7th gen civic has become in its final phase. If I went back though, I probably would have gotten something else though, only because I've experienced the civic once already. But it's not a bad choice at all....not to mention my family really likes the civic, so they kinda pressured me into the trade.

Im keeping my '01 cause its paid off and Im real slow with the mods so its still slowly coming together. If I were to trade it in I wouldnt do it for another civic unless the new Si is a coupe that looks real good and even then the price would be so close to the rsx that I would almost certainly choose the rsx as my next car.
