^^ it was just in motor trend this month with a picture... let me see if i can find it............
it says
"2006 Si is a coupe.... will it be a honda coup?"
honda hopes to get back on its small-car horse with an all-new '06 civic launching in 05. the civic platform will incorporate innovative packaging and seating from the successful jazz/fit supermini sold in japan and europe. But american honda is said to be worried taht the new car wont resonate with us civic customers. the american arm hopes to regain some of its loyal civic customers with the return of the rakish si coupe for 06 to replace the current si hatchback, the first civic ever to go straight to dealer incentives. the 06 si will need at least the 200 hp of the 04 rsx's 2.0 liter vtec four(bumped up to 210 horses for 05) just to stay in the hunt.
the 06 si must beat: golf gti, 200 hp chevy cobalt ss, saturn ion redline.

the pic is pretty sic.. if u see a new motor trend its on page 21 in the bottom right corner.
the only problem for me would be all the kids with the dx coupes putting si badges everywhere cus they bought different tail lights or sumthin.. like for 2000 civic si.

this topic was discussed elsewhere last week...the MotorTrend "article" is based on a concept drawing of what's supposed to be the new Si, basically a blend of the current Si and RSX, and has suggestions of what the Si will need to have motor-wise to compete with others cars in it's market...it's a purely speculative article.
The Civic will be all new for model year 2006. So far no details have been released but there has been some speculation as to the direction Honda will go with the model change. With the introduction of the Jazz/Fit this coming year it only makes sense that Honda will increase the size of the Civic and raise the level of vehicle refinement. A powertrain change is inevitable but the question is what will be under the hood? We feel this engine change will provide a nice horsepower gain and combining the new power plant with a 5spd automatic transmission will keep fuel mileage consistent with current EPA ratings.
The current generation Civic Si will be dropped however come back full force as a Coupe once again. Expect more aggressive styling and upgraded engine performance to draw in buyers who felt the current Si was a little too conservative in both aspects. MotorTrend has recently provided a "sketch" of the 06 Si coupe in their December 2004 issue. Is it accurate you may ask? Very unlikely. Due to some of their past forecasts we would recommend waiting for information from other, more credible sources.
Last but not least, what about the CRX resurrection? Honda fans everywhere have been begging the return of the car but will they be able to line up in 2006 to purchase one? We were told there might be a surprise car for fall 2006 but nothing more than that. If indeed true, expect the secret to be guarded even better than the 2005 Odyssey.

here ya go i found the spage about the new si....just had to flip around on what i wrote. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=180910
if it looks good and performs better, i might buy one....or the crx. oh yea, cant forget about the price.
and i seriously doubt 200hp.i understand the need to compete with other companies, but thats what the rsx-s is for and it would just be dumb to compete with yourself.

I think its funny how everyone gets all jumpy about the Si bieng a coupe. Guess what people, its not going to happen again. The 99-00 Si was a fluke, every other civic Si EVER MADE has been a hatch, and will continue to be hatches. Waiting for the Si to be a coupe again is like waiting for a hooker to give you a freebie.... Its not going to happen.

looks like all the american companies are making almost all the new cars look like the classics...i guess they can't think of anything better so they just repeat styles with a little flare...
first off ... for the people tryin to grill me cus this topic is discussed.. i wasnt telling everyone its going to happen i was asking if anyone would buy it or not... second... for americans u guys really hate domestic cars... too bad the whole idea of tuning was pretty much created here in the 30's and 40's. and another thing.. camaros are pretty sweet cars and no the companys arent reverting to old styles because they cant think of anything.. they revert to those styles because the old people will love em as well as the younger generation and because its a classic era.
people shouldnt rag on camaros... you tune a camaro mustang... u got a hot rod ...... u tune a civic ... u got a grocery getting econobox that is still slow
