NOS for 2004 1.6 liter civic Vtech enegine
NOS for 2004 1.6 liter civic Vtech enegine
hello everyone,
i decided to improve the Honda 1.6(1598 cc, to be precise) V-tech engine i installed in my 4x4 buggy. it gives some 120 hp now, with the K&N filter, the predator muffler and without the catlytic converter.
it was originally 105hp.
see some pics attached.
i would like some more power, let's say some 50 hp more = 170hp.
after researching, since i do'nt want it to cost too much, and since i do'nt need the additional power all the time, i got to the conclusion that a nitrous system would suit me best.
what system would be suitable for the 2004 1.6 liter Vtech engine?
could anyone be specific with make, model and part number?
i usually place my orders with Summit, but i do'nt know if they
are the right source, in this case.
appriciate your answers
Barry

pimp ride. i would just go check summit for nitrous systems for whatever car u pulled the engine out of. 50 shot is the highest still safe amount you can go on stock internals.
/edit. i know NOS and ZEX make kits for hondas. ZEX also has the kits that spray only at WOT.

this is why i asked the question in the first place...
any specific suggestions??
haha, didnt see the year up there. try the actual websites for the companies. see if they list products that summit doesent carry. you can also try www.jegs.com for online car products.
I sure wish my car was newer

1) It's "VTEC."
2) NOS is a brand. (Nitrous Oxide Systems.) Nitrous oxide is the actual product.
3) The 2001+ Civic engines are 1.7L.
4) Your engine can handle around a 50-shot. Without some serious work, I wouldn't give it any more than that. I've attached the application chart from ZEX, which lists the wet systems they have.

Well, some engines around the world didn't even get the 1.7L engine we get here in the States.
I'm assuming though that you're at least from North America, so then it would be a 1.7L engine. (although I can't be certain because it's 4x4 and has different hp numbers)
Anyway, nice work with that, it looks great.

and no, this is not a 4x4 originally. i took the regular honds engine, and mounted it sideways, so the halfshafts turn driveshafts to the axles, and not the wheels.....

1.6L engine eh? Yeah I hear ya. The same engine is used in the Philippines on 01's and up w/ VTEC for tax reasons also. Although the Philippines does have the optional 2.0L engine K20 to better compete w/ the 1.8L Corolla.
Unfortunately, since you're using that engine, I can't help you much. All I can say is try it, but they're not really meant to be boosted, and since you are using a fairly low hp enigne in the first place, I would start off with small doses of Nitrous. You don't want to blow all that hard work out the door with a lil happy gas do you? Start off with really small increments.

you have a point. but atleast it has somewhat of potential. a quad can be mod for cheap and be fast as hell. im just saying for the amount of money he will put into that he might as well just get one.
hey i don't know much about nitrous but its something i have wanted to try out. i see you all say no more than a 50 shot, and i was wondering whats the difference btw wet shot and dry shot? and which do u use for the 1.7L engine i have on my 01 lx. and also do you have to have anything else on ur car besudes the kit to help it run smooth?
