alright, last week I cracked a rod in my motor. I haven't got a chance to pull the motor yet, but i think it is salvageable, because it still runs. the motor obviously is not siezed because it still runs, so i think i might have the option of sleeving it, then getting new piston rings and replacing the rod(s). i would then only need a few more parts to raise boost. the other option i have is getting a junkyard D17 and put it in there, then sell it and my turbo stuff and get something else. would you guys risk takin another shot a boosted D17 or you think i should get something else to tinker with?

Um... with out tearing the engine appart... how do you know you cracked a rod? Just curious..

Junkyard engins are an Iffy option, as you have no Idea what the privious owner did to it (or didnt) But they can be had fairly cheep...

yeah.....thats what im leaning towards, plus some nice sturdy rods and a hefty steel headgasket. it seems kinda risky though. but then again, so does a junkyard motor--but on the other hand honda doesnt seem to have alot of lemons

metal on metal whipping around in the cylinder..what else could it be? besides it sounds just like when my friend with a corolla snapped one of his rods. not to mention all my oil was gone, therefore the friction was incredible, and the rod is weakest part, therefore it breaks first. it seems like thats all it could be to me.
