What do you all think about a 1" to 1- 1/4" drop, and a 205/55/16 set up? I want a bigger size wheel (I got the stock 14's), but don't want to sacrifice acceleration or ride comfort.

check out the tire calc. you'll see that a 205/50/16 is a little closer to the stock specs. they don't rub. i've got 205/50/16 with a 2.5" drop and have had no problems at all. but keep in mind anytime you put thiner tires on a car your going to feel the road more (bumpy). hope that helps you out.

I am planning to get 16x7 alloys in the spring, I'm currently deciding between 205/50/16 or 205/55/16. Only a few people seem to have these sizes, but both are close to stock. I'm not planning to do any suspension modifications so I want to maybe stay with 205/55/16 just to stay comfortable on the road and reduce fender gap. I think 205/50/16 migth have too much fender gap, and 205/55/16 might be ok since it is fairly close to stock.

205/55/16 will definitely improve steering response over the stock, and you'll get a wider footprint for grip. The only concern is weight, I wonder how much of an effect it'll be to have that extra 4-5 lbs per wheel (incl. tire increased weight).

N.B. Stock size 185/70/14 is closer to 205/50/16. Stock size on EX/Si is 185/65/15 and is in the middle between 205/50/16 and 205/55/16.

I ran into the same thing on my EX. The 16's are in between sizes..the true replacement is 215/50/R16. I went with the 205/55's and a drop is very much possible.

01CivicMike: How do you like the ride on 205/55/16? Do you feel slower because of the increased weight? Does it look good or is fender gap large?
