weard extra power

weard extra power

ok so as some people may have read i had a failed attempt to put on the sf kit. but for some reason now my car has more pick up. it kind of scared me the first time i took off at a light.

ok what is done is the new sf fuel pump is on no oxigen sencer to the intake and only a cone filter is on the trottle bodie due to we cant fit any thing on it but that. the stock intake wont go on due to the fuel pump is sitting there.

any one have any clue why im getting a lot more pick up and go? i had a injen cai on befor and felt some gain but almost nothing but this is like where the beep did that come from.

more fuel/air and the sensor isnt there to correct it?

if you put the cone filter on the throttle body, then there is no room for air to move, it'll just go straight into the tb, and into the engine. more air from that plus more fuel from the sf fuel kit is (what i'm thinking, but i'm a newbie too...) what is giving you these "gains."

or maybe you havent driven your car in so long that you think it has more pickup...

That seems absurd. Your sucking the hottest air possible right under the hood. It must practically touch the hood! SRI has some gains because the air is drawn from a cooler area and gets some velosity. On the throttle body there cannot be any gains. Ive run my car without a tube or filter, just the throttle body for about a half hour once and felt nothing.

just because air is hot doesnt mean you cant gain power. you do realize if you get much more air and fuel then hot or not yes you will see gains. plus only so much air can combust with x amount of fuel, compressed more or less it doesnt matter

arent you forgetting the additional fuel as well? and more air with better flow is more air, quicker, and unless you are running an intake from outside the engine compartment, the air is pretty much going to be hot from the engine compartment. i still stick to my argument that the stock intake is the best way to go. sri is just for looks/sound, not for gains, and its certainly not drawn from a cooler area, it just has better flow/higher velocity capability.
a true cold air intake provides power gain because it draws the denser (thus more oxygen rich) air into the engine.

hot air in engine bay isn't that bad. when going 60, does the air in the bay not move at all? well it does so its not as bad. but when u have more fuel/air going in, more power.

i drove it again today same thing it defenetly has more pick up. i drive my car almost every day so i know the way it handles.

but any ways paying to have the kit put on friday so i can have some real power

It is not the cone filter over the throttle body that is adding any kind of horse power this is impossible. This would actually cause the car to lose hp. This has been proven by some brave members removing the stock intake and running without the filter. This did not show any hp gains. Your feeling more pull because of the fuel pump.
