Any thoughts on a used IS300??
For some reason I have been debating on selling my civic and putting some extra cash in and getting a used IS. Anyone have on or have any comments on them? Also... would it be better to take everything off and sell the car with a factory look or leave the bags and wheels and all on and try to sell it?

I really like the Style and looks of the IS300, but I think that it is underpowered for a 6. I read some article in a car audio magazine about a guy who turbod his IS300 and on the bottle it had like 600HP. That was impressive. I would concider that. What do used IS300's go for these days??? I would still concider one if the price was right.

I had one I know... had a 98 3 seriers. 323i
this all happened under 36 thousand miles mind you. when we sold damn POS.
Here you go, here is a video I just shot of my friends IS-300. He just got it about a month ago and bought it in Texas. But we had 7thgen Meet on the 25th of September this year and I told him to bring his ride so he did. I had my camcorder at our meet but he put on a little show with his ride. Anyways here is his 2003 IS-300 with a Supra block and turbo'd and just dyno'd his car and he hit 518 HP before full boost or alcohol. It's a strong engine and runs very very fast. Check out the video I shot for yourself
Justins 2003 500+ HP IS-300 shot 9-25-04 in Phoenix, AZ
This will help make your decision, so yeah i would get the IS300 and turbo the thing.

That car sounded GOOD
What sparked my interest was that there were a few in the auto trader with about 40,000 miles for under 19K
What about the mods??? Think I could find a kid that wanted to pay more for what I have done than what I could get for it stock? I know a lot of people raise the price up if they have anything done when they try to sell them in the autotrader.

HE just bought his, he paid $35,000 for it. IT's a 2003, fully loaded and the engine is decked out, aftermarket suspension, 18" momo's, 500+ hp, very strong engine and very fast. It's a major sleeper. The car is completely stock on the outside, but the inside it hauls *** lol. It does have a full greddy exhaust too. I would own that car in 2 seconds.
Even though I am not a toyota fan there are only two cars I would ever buy from them. One being the IS300 and the other is the G300-400
The IS is the Toyota Altezza everywhere else but it looks really good and has a good amount of performance. Its nowhere near M3 territory but its not meant to be. Its the small car offered by Lexus so to speak such as the C-class Mercedes, Infiniti G35, and BMW 325. For the buck its a hot car and like I said, if i had the cash I would buy one.

That isnt a concept. i saw them make that on some cool show on discovery or tlc i think. They took the GS series aluminum V8 and put it in an IS300. It was a while ago though, so I don't remember what show it was, but it was alot of electrical work with the cars.
[edit] maybe this is a concept car, but this was originally done on a TV show just for the heck of it, not for lexus themselves.

So everyone was right, Rod Millen made it for personal/television purposes and Lexus showed it off. Also to support my claims of the electrical work to be basically hell, here is a quote from that link.
The electrical integration of the V8 engine to work with the manual transmission and the IS chassis presented a greater challenge. Integrating the GS engine electronics and the IS chassis electronics and getting both to work in harmony, called upon RMSV’s extensive electronics expertise gained from years of concept car and military vehicle design and manufacture. “We had to design an onboard computer to trick the powerful GS430 engine into working without the stock transmission,” noted Dean Banks, RMSV’s engineering team lead, “this was not your traditional engine swap.” The final result is a concept offering production car reliability, fit and finish meshed with the straight-line performance of a muscle car and the on-track performance of a well-tuned race machine.
