Rep Power: 0 Shocks or struts???
I am getting confused reading all these posts. Whats the difference between shocks and struts. Does are car come stock with both? Or are they just universal terms for each other. Any one who can clear me up, thanks!

Rep Power: 0 a strut is a shock with a spring all in one "piece". its not really one piece but i think you know what i mean. stock our cars have macpherson struts, and in the back we have wishbone suspension which describes how the strut physically connects to the frame of the car in a "Y" shape.

Rep Power: 0 eh no they're definitely not the same. a shock is just a cylinder filled with a compressed gas, usually nitrogen. its job is to control spring and suspension movement, the faster the suspension moves, the more resistance the shock creates. a shock isn't made to support the weight of the car, the spring does that.
on the other hand a strut can support the weight of the car because there is a spring in the strut assembly.
