350Z, Tiburon, RX-8, GTO, Civic, I can't decide!
I've been churning this over in my head for a long time and I just can't decide on what to do. I was hoping someone here might be able to help.
I currently have a 2003 Civic LX Sedan, stock except for 17'' Konig Verdicts and a pioneer mp3/wma/cd player and audiobahn/kicker 12'' in the trunk. I've been contemplating going "all in" and heavily modifying my car. However, I've come to the realization that an LX isn't exactly D-Shiznit when it comes to tuner cars. I needed a reliable car for my daily commute to a new job 25 miles each way badly at the time and my local Honda dealership came through for me at a time when my credit wasn't stellar.
I'm craving more power and I've also recently turned 25, so insurance isn't as large of a hurdle as it was when I originally got my Civic. It's a great car and is still good to me, but I just want something more.
I'm thinking about a 350Z, from the same dealership, so I think they'll work with me on the price/financing.
Tiburon, which is about $10k cheaper than the Z, has a V6, can be modded heavily.
RX-8, which I actually get a discount on from my job.
or, a classic car, like a 68 Camaro SS or an old GTO, something with a V8.
and still, I might keep my Civic and do all the mods I've been putting off (intake, exhaust, HIDs, projector retro, body kit, etc.)

f u want power - go for the Z, f u want balance/handling/uniqueness - go for the rotary powered RX8, f u want something to drive daily without worrying about your front suspension(the Z),gas mileage(RX8) then go for the Tiburon. Any car is worth modifying its up to you to make that real!!! just hold on to the Civic, it will give a Tiburon a run for its money in the reliability department!!!
but 4 me i go wid the Mazda RX8!!! its got everything except mileage; plus you can carry 2 more chics than the Z!!! hehehehe!!!regarding old school american muscle cars: no comment bro!!! jas follow ur heart!!!

Rx-8!!!
RX8 mate... im a civic lover.. but if its not an s2k its an rx8... boosted easily and lotsa power... nitrous is easy with it too ... its a fun easy car to drive.. with a good suspension... (bit gas unfriendly though)

I'd put a Civic up against a Tiburon any day in the reliability dept. As well as resale. About the only thing Tiburon has going for it is a V6 and not really that powerful. Oh yeah - and the price. Still , not a bad looking car and if it can modded to go fast would be a big savings over a Z or RX8 in price and insurance.
The RX8 -I just can't get into a gas guzzling - no torque 1.3 liter engine for a sports car motor. I like the 300Z best out of the ones you mentioned. I really like the Infinity G35 Coupe!
You can mod the Civic all to hell and still not have a fast car. To go fast I would get something that was fast to begin with. An old V8 car would be the easiset to build to go fast - especially in a drag race - but it would not be something I would want to drive on daily basis and especially for 25 miles one way to work.

why is the civic on that list???
rx-8 or GTO or the Z...cant go wrong with those. test all 3 of them and see which you like best. lots of aftermarket performance support for the z and GTO (im sure there will be for the goat).

Funny thing, I got insurance quotes and the Tiburon is about double what a Z or an RX-8 would be. about $10k cheaper, but insurance is double. I can't figure it out, but I double checked it, and they quoted me correctly.

I would go with an old Camaro or GTO. If you can hold a year with out a car go for the 2006 GTO with the LS2 400HP 395lbs TQ.
I always wanted to drive up to work/school in an old 1969 Camaro RS/SS.

I would get the 350Z hands down...my friend has one...they are very quick and they handle extremely well....He just has intake and exhaust and he can take just about every car he races...the car was built for speed
if you just want pure power, go for the Z, easy choice. personally i'd go for the RX-8, it'll likely be more fun to drive, and more interesting (although possibly expensive) to upgrade a rotary engine.
tiburon is junk, RX-8 (contrary to popular belief) doesnt have many performance parts out. Get the Z for performance, or keep the civic for the commute. I have a stock civic and I love it, dont let anyone pressure you into useless mods (look at how many people realize that all of that money was wasted once they get done and have a slower car than when they started).
Wow there are a lot of people saying Hyundai reliability is junk. Hyundai was the MOST improved name plate for 2003 i believe (moved up like 15+ places among the manufacturuer nameplates).
As for the car i would get...GTO. Proven and reliable powertrain, can now buy for MSRP or under, pretty large rear legroom for a coupe, probabbly a comfortable cruiser, and good gas mileage (if you get the 6 speed).
As for muscle cars...I've always wanted one, but thought about it and replacement parts might be on short supply (1st gen Camaro parts might be relatively easy to come by as they are popluar and abundant in supply, but the GTO might be harder as they are rare). Easily replaced parts are the engine, transmission, rear end, suspension peices, and the paint. The harder parts to replace are the glass, electrical wiring, interior parts, and possibly body panels. Also if you are a novice wanting a muscle car, it is hard to say what is a nice example is and what is not even worth the time or effort to restore.

Go with an american classic, like the 68 camaro. No cats no emmisions all the power you want. A chevy 350, 383, 400 SB and a holly 650 carb, sucks alot of gas but more reliable than any of the other cars. Much easier to work on. Parts are much cheaper. think about it man.
cross out the tiburon, civic, and the rx8.
civic- keep it if you want to
tiburon- blah v6......weak v6 man
rx8- sure looks nice...not enough power for the money, they only dyno around 165~170 or so to the wheels.
