Element or 2nd civic
Element or 2nd civic
I'm getting my wife a new car this coming weekend and she either wants an element or a civic sedan. I already have a sedan so I'm leaning toward the element. We are welcoming a baby in november and think the element might be more pratical. What do you guys think?

Awesome. Then go for the Element! It's hipper then the CRV and it's got some neat features. VA gets a lot more snow then here so you would be better off w/ the Element than another Civic for the winter months.
Theres nothing wrong w/ another Civic sedan, but the Element has a lot more space and awd. I'd go for the Element if I had to buy another car.
Good luck w/ ur purchase.

LOL.
People, quit saying to buy the damned RSX! He's having a baby. The RSX has less room than a Civic coupe. I swear some of you people cannot understand that there are people in this world who don't want a 6-speed manual and no backseat.
As for the car, let your wife decide. She'll be driving it.

Well if you wanted a Scion xA or xB, I could just sell you a refrigerator box with my 15" stock steelies. It'd be just as quick and, with the right paint, could look better.
If you want the wife to get the Element, be a salesman. Talk to her about the benefits of a larger car. I drive a coupe, but I can imagine with the small doors the sedan has that it would be a beyotch to get a kid in and out of a car seat. The Element, while only slightly less goofy looking than an xB gets you the dealer invoice from your wife's g-ma, the reliability of a Honda, the uniqueness (and most likely function) of suicide doors (though you should prolly call them something else when talking to your wife,) a 160hp engine - which is enough power to get out of its own way, unlike the Civic or xB.
For cons, the Element looks just plain weird. Its mileage is only in the low 20s, but you're still getting a lot for a car that, at invoice, would cost under $20,000.

you can get an element for below invoice even if you don't have a relative working at honda. the element is way underpowered. it has the same engine as the crv but is in a weight class 8. also, crash ratings for side impacts are poor. even if you get the one with side air bags, the protection is only for the driver and front passenger. do you want to risk the safety of your child/children? the civic safety ratings are phenomenal and there is nothing wrong with having two of them. get different colors. i would go with a crv or another civic...just my opinion...
if i were in your position, element.
i cant stand having 2 of the same cars =| but im assuming its mainly your wifes car? so maybe she should drive what she wants/likes. but on the side, you gonna be borrowing the car at times or just whenever..
if you end up with another civic... theirs that new sexy fiji blue color out
i wish i had that blue on my 03 coupe
goodluck deciding on your purchase

the element is kick ***, perfect 'car' to take on a trip. good fuel mileage, the inside is super easy to clean. Awesome for snowboading trips (fun to slip and slide in,LOL) get the element!
and congrates on the baby

Element definately if you like camping. It would prolly be more practical anyway for a kid.
Mw & my fi-on-ce(sp) are getting one when we get married next year, for camping & stuff like that.
