Talking vtec-e

I bought a honda VX hatch back in 1993,which I still have, these little cars get excellent gas millage with their VTEC-E engines,106 hp, the last time I checked the milage I was getting around 48mpg. Why did they scrap this model? They were produced from 1992 till 1995.From what I hear the hybrids dont get that much milage. The Japenese version of the era without the emissions devices got around 65 to 70mpg. If this technoligy was around then what happened to it.? This is my first post and if any of you that have vtec-e models post you details and milage.

I have a feeling Honda just eliminated the VX because there wasn't much of a market for it then - gas was cheap in 92-95, and for not much more operating expense you could have a better equipped hatch, or an DX/LX/EX sedan. I think the only chance the VX 106hp uber-mileage engine would have today if it was in some really "trendy" looking vehicle. Just look at how little power the Scions (xA/xB) make.

Right, I forgot about the HX. There's also the natural gas-powered GX mentioned in some of the brochures, but I've never seen one in real life.

The HX actually uses the VTEC-E(Lean Burn) system. I've been getting around 34-35 mpg city at 6000 feet elevation in my '01 HX.
Ebound, I don't think the EX utilizes VTEC-E.
