window tint advice
i want to get the windows on my civic 2k1 coupe tinted. all the shops i've been to offer 3shades: the az legal limit for the front, darker, and darkest (limo). i have to get the legal limit on the front but i can't decide between the darker and darkest for the back and 2 mini side windows. what i want to avoid is turning my civic into a windowless van at night. Is there a particular darkness % I should be looking for?
is there any film brands to avoid like sun gard, sun tek, ...?

your in a very heated area where the sun always shines. if you have lack night driving skills (lookin at blind spots, reversing, spotting thruout ur side windows, etc) maybe the darkest tint may not be it.
but on a average basics, a good 65% tint can be good. meaning by the window is tinted 65 n not 35. if your referring it to visibility ... then 35%
tinting one window darker then the other was a mistake i've done
if i can go back, i would want my rear windows a shade lighter to match up with my front ones.

if i can go back, i would want my rear windows a shade lighter to match up with my front ones. from the cars i see around here in phoenix, almost everyone has a really dark tint compared to the front window tint. if soccer moms in their minivans can handle the dark tint, then i could too. I brought up the windowless van because I once rented a moving van that had only the front passenger windows and it was really tough to drive using only the side mirrors.
The place i am planning on going to uses Solar Gard film. they have a sample with 3 films on it - legal for front, darker, and darkest. the law here is 33% visible light transmission in the front windows. the guy there recommended getting the darkest tint of the 3 they offered for the rear windows. said it would be no problem in the city but he backed his truck that had the darkest tint into a tree while camping - didn't even see it. also said the old folk get the medium darkness of the 3 and the younger folk get the darkest of the 3. I'll call him back to get the % of the dark and darkest.

If you drive at night time don't get the limo tint. It will be hard to see outside with darker tint. Also if you can try to get Llumar brand window tint, it has a lifetime guanrantee from bubbling and discolorment (if you see a car with dark purple tint then you know it changed color).
just an update, i got the 15% on the back windows which is just a little lighter than the black dots. just right for me at night, i think 5% would have been too dark. he got in front of the brakelight without a problem and didn't need to remove the rear deck. wish i did this long ago.
