Scion Liars
I think someone made a good point about buying a car in its first year. The Tc could come out and have all kinds of problems. Just because the specs look nice doesn't mean its a great car. I would at least want to see what the one-year testing reveals on the car before I thought about buying one.

My only comment on the TC...
160 HP and 163 Ft/LB of torque on a 2905 LB chassis = Sluggish Over weight car.
Think about it, a Stock Si has 160 Hp and 132 FT/Lb of toruque and weighs in at 2782 and its Marginaly faster then an EX... imagine adding 200 LBS to an Si.
If you like the look of it sure, but if you want better performance then your civic, the TC is probably not what you should be looking at.

you know Scion dealerships will NOT take off one penny off the listed price. My buddy works for toyota and told me this.
well i'm not complaining, i mean 15k for that kinda car is not bad at all, but you know with this present shortage on these usually means "market adjusted value" thats where the killer would be and of course the "no bargaining" deal stays.
hahah gotta love the busniess world!
you pay what they tell you to pay, no if's and's or but's

Speaking of first year production issues, go to www.mazda3forums.com and read about Mazda 3's rear brake problems. Excessive dust and grooving, which Mazda hasn't even acknowledged yet. It's a great car, but if it has rear caliper or e-cable problems I'd hate to encounter that during spirited driving.

BTW that motor = the 4 cyl Camry engine. I've driven one in a Solara automatic, not at all impressive, there's no top end. Hopefully they did something different with it in this car.

too heavy.
scion = 2905 lbs.
Si = 2782 lbs.
EX = 2597 lbs.
not so great mpg.
scion = 22/29
Si = 26/30
EX = 32/37
it's a great bang-for-the-buck car though. it needs to go on a diet though. it has a little bit wide stance, it might do okay in conering acceloration. i don't know about the actual chassis or body roll though.

I wonder if the tc will have the same ability. I doubt it will be able to b/c it doesnt have the track record of the civics or any other honda which have been known to go 160,000 miles + without a problem. You gotta ask yourself if your going to trade value for performance and looks. Let me know what you think.
Dude, you're dealing with TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION here, the question is, are Hondas as reliable and durable as TOYOTAS. If you look at real world data and facts, the answer is HONDA is a close second. My personal experience, Toyotas take abuse better than a Honda would (In general). I've rarely seen Toyota automatic transmissions go out. Yet I see Honda ATs go out all the time, and prematurely. That's just one example. Both are great manufacturers, just you're asking the wrong questions. You ever heard about the Toyota 22-RE 4cyl. motors used in early Toyota pickups? Well they've been known to go over 1,000,000 miles. I know a couple people with 80s Toyota p/us, and they have well over 400,000 and 500,000 without a problem (some minor body rust, but hey)

Yeah I went to the MazdaRevItUp event where you get to throw around 3s on the track, and one by one as each driver pulled up to the cone in more than 20 Mazda 3s, almost all of them had a high pitch squeal coming from the rear as they braked. I would of bought one, but that spooked me. Anyone know how much the 3s weigh?

i think the car looks sweet, the chopped pic reminds me of a mini R34 Skyline....well the front anyways.....its a sweet car and i hope this helps toyota's slumping sales
i just saw a truckload of scions tc's being delivered to the toyota dealership...they don't look bad at all. i kinda like them but, i'm not a toyota person, i would much rather have a my civic.
