Performance Mods for '03 sedan
Performance Mods for '03 sedan
I'm gonna come clean and say I've never done any mods before. I dont plan to be a racer or anything like that. I'm also new to these boards because well, I have a '03 civic sedan. My primarily goal is basically add to the performance of my ride, even though it mite not be that much of a drastic difference. I don't know anyone who has modded a 7th gen civ sedan before so i thought why not ask here since everyone here has a 7th gen.
so yea i thought i'd play it smarter and ask people who know a lot about the type of car i have rather than watch some racing movie and slap in some nitrous and think thats all people do.
Okay now back to the question, how and whatr some ways to improve performance in my car. and where are some good sites or so where i can pick up some parts for a 7th gen civic (headers, exhaust, intake, etc). so ya, anything would help. Just tryna learn something new
thx in advanced

Even with intake, header, exhaust you may lucky to get 5 or so hp. Waste of money! The best performance mod is supsension. Get a set of full coilover with adjustable damper, grippy tires + light weight rims. Or save the money on turbo.

^^^ "suspnesion" haha
Get a motor swap if u want to really tune your car for the track. along with suspension...turbo is a little too peaky unless you run low boost with a smaller turbo that has little to no lag...otherwise turbo lag can cause you to lose control in the corners when boost kicks in.

Just go for looks. You will spend alot just to make it go a little faster. Might as well use that to make the car better on the outside.

say, yeah, i'll go for look, not for speed..cos' i'll go with 17"....still weight less than black rims....so i think it won't effect my MPG....
lowe acceleration = higher MPG, for say....
EIBACH Prokit??
you know these cars aren't straight out of the box race cars but they are alot of fun to drive for the money. If not why is there this web site and soo many ppl here all the time.No offense just my opinion.

Yeah look at all the members here. Some have 12-13sec cars, and others have show cars. It all depends on what you want and how much $$ you have, and how much you like to mod. There are lots of DIYs here as well, and many of them are free.
I have a friend who had a 2001 Honda Civic that had every avaliable bolt on his auto and it ran a 18.3. I will admit that it was bad weather and it was an auto but still it is hard to make a sedan fast with just bolt ons.
My penis is just like all my posts, very very short

the no potential statement is not a new one by far, but the potential is more than the previous SOHC Honda motors, the reason why they might be considered to have more potential, is because they have been around for much longer, and they have tons of parts readiliy available, since there are tons of parts, they are cheap, for us, there is a third of the parts.. if that.. so the price of those mods are nearly double of what it would cost for say parts for a d16, most of the ppl here just wanna fight the system per say, i just wanna get from point a to b fast... some just setup for autocross which i think is where our cars shine, not on a strip, but in corners
altho some have invested lots of money into swaps, turbos, swap turbos... and gained respect as well, and for the record, most honda/acura's out of the box run mid 15's to 19's depending on what car it is, and last time at the track, i was beating some b16 and b18 swaps, also a supercharged h22... given they probablly werent the best drivers.. its still impressive
and times are also dependant on the temperature as well as the altitude
so my suggestion is to research before you buy, and figure out what the best mods availible for your budget, because i KNOW you got the civic cause ur a cheap skate.. i think most of us are.. then there are the few who buy a car to dump in 4 times the money into it because they can.. *cough*rijowysock*cough
Hey man I think it's great that your car can do 15's,
I'm not hating on you but rather hating on the car.
N/A all the way, bro.
If I had more money I wouldn't have bought a Civic, I would have bought an Inf G35. Unfortunately it costs 2-3 times as much as the Civic did, and IMO isn't worth 2-3 times as much $$$. So, you're right about that much, I'm a cheapskate.
Peace

oh, i don't "hate" the car,
I'm just saying I didn't buy it cuz it was fast, I bought it cuz it was cheap...
However, it is much faster than I thought it would be and actually handles quite nicely!

You forgot about those who like to be up on 3 wheels...

Fast is a relitive term, as in Fast at what? 1/4mile? 0-60? autocross? Me, I autocross so fast in the corners is a whole lot more important to me then fast in a straight line. and our cars can be set up do be pretty good in the corners(Fairly easy too). 1/4 mile, there you need HP. 0-60..... You could change the gearing and have a whicked 0-60 time but then the car wouldnt be able to go much faster.... Its all Relitive to what you consider Fast.
