Ok, I started painting the Honda cover over the engine red, but I have made a miss of things. Theirs bubbles of paint and levels and levels of paint. How can I smooth it out? Sandpaper?? Any tips would help.

the worse case is u paint the whole valve cover !!! but u can use some real fine sandpaper to smooth it out !!!

If it looks real bad, just put some coats of primer on it, and redo it the right way.

Your layers are too thick. You need to strip the paint, then sand it down. After that reprimer it. Then, you put your layers of paint on very thin. It should look like a very thin layer of powder. Spray it from about three feet away, and do it lightly. Repeat this until you've got about 5 or 6 layers on there, and go over it with clear coat. This should help you. I think I have a picture of mine in member rides.

I didn't use primer and I just washed the piece off before I painted it. Hrmm...hopefully nothing bad happens. It looks pretty good not bubbly.

dude, you gotta know how to paint right. start with primer, lightly, let that dry and reaplly untill its covered right, then paint it with a light coat and let dry. repeat until it looks perfect. the most important thing to remember is to paint a little at a time. very light coats. the reason why you got bubbles and uneven layers is because you painted the whole thing at once. i had the same problem with model cars.
