lucid484: i'm glad u don't like domestics! and yes, if you have the money to throw around, definitely get a domestic to get the horsepower and kick out of it...but like i said above, imports handle better than most domestics....
nookiemonster: dude, why are you even on here? don't u drive a mazda??? get on a ford forum or something....but anyways, i know a lot of people who would love a jdm vitz....cause that thing would be the ultimate sleeper! and guess what? i do learn most of my **** from books and magazines...at least i'm educated and i have proof to back it up....and i'm pretty sure you got couple of import "tooners" lying around at home....and next time, tell xx03exx to find a better example...cause i'm pretty sure if he asked me which import was better handling than a corvette or some bs like that i'd definitely say Skyline R34 V-SpecII Nur

and you'd be wrong.
The skyline is to heavy to handle better then a corvette. Read some books on Race chassis design and learn a little about what goes in to makeing a car handle before you spout off.
Skyline Weight: 3968 LBS
Corvette Z06 weight: 3130
Thats an 838LB difference.... Think about it.
The skyline has allways been Grossly over rated.
It's actually not 4WD...it's ATTESSA variable AWD system. It's mainly RWD and when the sysem senses a loss in traction, it sends power to the Front wheels, and can send it unevenly if need be. There is a variant of the ATTESSA system in the G35X. It's a great system, but surely overrated as Zzyzx already said.

WTF? How much would you need to spend to get a Honda in the 10's? How about another "import" like a BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Toyota, etc etc....
Stock Fox Stang: high 13's. Spend 5K on blower, heads, intake = 10sec car....
And about things breaking in a 10 sec car: Show me one single 10 sec car that DOESN'T break parts like crazy and I'll buy it right now.....
How many people here have even driven a car that actually has run a 10 sec 1/4? You have no clue about the feeling of one until you've driven it....
And the point about "imports handle better than domestics" is a sweeping generalization that you have absolutely no facts to back up.... ZO6, Viper GTS-R for upper end, Focus SVT, Caddy SpecV (or whatever the hell it's called), Cobra for lower end....

I agree about the Sweeping Generalization but your examples werent exactly the best picks.
Z06, yes it handles Great Chevy did a good job re-valving the shocks and changing spring rates, but the big reason it handls so much better then the other corvettes.... is because it comes stock with WIDE *** tires.
Viper... not nearly as well as it should.
Foculs SVT, Not nearly as well as its Hype, though it is a decent car.
Caddy CTS-V.... Way to heavy to handle well (they just droped a big engine in it)
Cobra? (your talking about the Mustang cobra, or the SVT Cobra... Stock only the Mustang Cobra SVT handles good and thats because they added in the Independant rear suspension) The cobra still needs alot of work to take corners well.
Of course this is all for the stock cars, Modified.. then its any bodys game.
Most Domestics are what racers call point and shoot cars. where they have a lot of power but dont handl that well, so to be fast on a track they have to slow way down for the corners and then reliy on theire acceleration to make up for what ever they lost in the corner. other cars are whats called a Momentum racer. The Lotus 7 is a good example of this, where the car doesnt have that much power but because it weighs so little it doesnt have to slow down for the corners that much, so as long as the driver doesnt slow down to much for the corners then the cars lack of accleleration won't affect its lap times.
Different means to the same end. Personally I find Momentum racers much more fun then a point and shoot car.
The issue on which is faster, that depends on if the Point and shoot car has enough HP to make up for what it looses in the corners, and if the Momentum car can take corners sufficently fast to not need to try to Out Acclerate the point and shoot car.

havok, i know that all 10 sec cars will break parts and yes it is easier to get the stang into 10's then it is a civic (which is near impossible), but many people believe that when you get a v8 you can run 10's and everything will be fine, so i was just pointing it out for everyone that you still will be spending lotsa $$ replacing parts.
wow....the most i've heard so far that someone spent on their car (well a couple of people) was one was some dude in van spent 85K on his Spoon S2000, everything is spoon, even sent it to japan to get them to tune the whole thing and track test it...there's a dude in Edmonton who spent 90K (including ****up's) on his 1980 something vw vr6 4wd turbo rabbit (fastest import in edmonton)...crazy amounts of money
