toyota pickup truck problem?
my cousin just bought a 2004 toyota tacoma SR5 crewcab pickup truck. its got the TRD off road thing. yesterday we went for a ride and we just noticed that the shift lever moves and vibrates while u drive. also the 4L-N-4H 4 wheel drive lever vibrates and moves around even more. neither of us has any experiences with pickup trucks at all so we're wondering... Is this normal??
I am pretty sure it is normal, my girlfriend just bought an Automatic Toyota Tocaoma TRD edition, 2004. The shift vibrates and moves all over the place.
I think that it has to do with the transmission not bolted to the frame of the car??? Reducing truck vibration.?

If the dealer says its a normal problem, its not. Let your cousin know about http://www.ttora.com and http://www.customtacos.com Both have people who can help him with this problem.

Woah woah no this is not normal. Unless its something affecting the '04 trd only. Cause I have an 02 and it never vibrates. What is the weather/temperature like in your area? Mine has vibrated whenever it freezes up and then I shift it, itll be loose for a day or so.

It's not an issue, improper mounting or defective anything.
The trannies on yoda's are mounted with big squishy rubber dampers/bushings and the like. It's so when you're bangin' around offroad the tranny dosen't take hits as hard. Hard tranny hits cause bearings to prematurely wear. It's part of the reason you almost never hear of toyota trannies failing even though it may have 300,000+ on the clock.
Both of the stickshifts will wobble around and whatnot as the transmition/engine rocks about under varying levels of power and load. Untill I picked up my Vic a month ago, I'd been driving toyota trucks for about 5 years as my daily drivers/weekend warriors.
