Rep Power: 0 I have originally put 87 in my car, that was fine. Then I put 93 in just to see what it would do. My car ran much smoother and healthier and I swear to you I could feel the difference, just barely, but I could. Now that I'm a college student, I put in Shell's 87. Shell for the quality, 87 for the price.

Rep Power: 356 Please note that the guys that have to use 92+ have forced induction of one kind or another.
Octane as coverd umptenthmilion time.....
Octane, by definition, is the resistance to burn or detonation. The higher the rating, the slower the burn when ignited during the compression burn cycle of the piston. The higher octane allows for better control of burning for high compression engines. So we want to match the correct octane rating of the gasoline to the engine design to ensure complete burning of the gasoline by the engine for maximum fuel economy and clean emissions.
So, the Octane needed is determinied by the compression levels of the engine, SO on our mostly stock D series, 91+ is a waste, 87 Is perfectly fine and 89 Might help a little.

Rep Power: 387 you guys are frickin nuts! Unless you are boosting, you need nothing more than 87, as stated in your manual. Keep paying for your premium, I am staying at 87.
