Testdrive in Modded Scion Xb
Testdrive in Modded Scion Xb
Hello out there.
I went to my local toyota dealership to testdrive the Xb (van). I was curious about those little cars and I just had to see for myself how they drive. The Xb I drove was a 5-speed lowered with 18's and AEM CAI. It was ok, but it had flames. lol.
So anyhow the first thing I noticed was how short the travel on the clutch was.... I would say 6inches and floor. We, me and sales kid, took it out and I he told me to give it all its got... So I did. It wasn't much. I dunno if it was the 18's but that car had little to no pick-up. I seriously doubt that it would beat a civic 5speed.
Final impressions, nice car and worth all 14,000 but no more.

They are not for the family. They are specially market it for the young people. I heard some where that they are also going to offer a prime obtion. so that owner can paint it any color he/she wants.
I sure wish my car was newer

I don't understand the draw of those things. Do you guys really think they're awesome looking? It's a van that looks like a refridgerator box, but it costs $14K. I just don't get it.

not the 4banger 5 speed no no i'll take the turbo 6speed supra super car. no big deal
lease: im sure that that is what you want, but comeon man you want something that isnt going to break the bank with maitinance and upkeep. not to metion modding and gas.sounds to me like someone is a little spoiled
my sister has an XB with 17's and all those other goodies...no CAI though...It does have a lil kick to it after it breaks in...i think it would be able to keep up with us if not kick our a$$es
No doubt its cheaper all around, I know, its an economial car, just like a civic. But i mean its ugly, thats just my opinion. I dont care that it doesnt have 200+hp its just nasty looking, and in my opinion pretty pointless. I rather drive a corolla

I also test drove a xB 5 speed. It was stock though, and had no radio. I have to say, it isnt that bad (besides the look, but I did have sooo many ppl look/stare at it while I was driving it around). I have to admit, it may be able to keep up with a LX, or maybe even beat it. The gear ratios are nicely spaced. The clutch pedal travel is like S2000 style, but the shifter needs some work, but nothing a short throw shifter cant take care of.

1.5 liter, 108 hp with 105 lb.ft of torque on a ~2400 lb car..
now throw in the 18 inch, and one day 4 of ur friends (4 times lets say 150 lbs)
600 lbs plus u, (u're a skinny a$$, so 120 lb) 720 lbs..
so once again:
1.5 liter, 108 hp and 105 lb.ft of torque carrying 3120 lb not counting the 18s.. or even 17s.
at least its only 13-14k
anyways not that our civic is any faster or more powerful..
I'll take the 2.4 tc

Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

I was able to hop into some stock ones at an auto show... Those things are tiny (they are fairly large for their class) and they are powered by an Echo engine. The fit and finish is great and the price is excellent. I'd say it's a great first car for someone... I mean, they do have optional superchargers...
I would also want the tC over the A or B...

tC is pretty much a sports coupe. With about 160HP, and about 2800 lbs, should be ok, but I have a feeling it's just some Camry engine stuffed under there. But it performs well, who knows?

The rolling box is ok. I don't think it would be a prime choice for a race car, but as a stereo car, it probably would work out ok. I think they're cool and unique, but it definately needs a little help in the power department. A TRD blower would certainly help the cause... and I doubt it'll be too long before someone figures out a 1ZZ-GTE (GT-S) engine fits in the thing.
my mothers is OK, Automatic and all, lol. But the real place that those cars shine isnt speed of course, but its the fact that you can fit 4 adults in there super-comfortably, they have terrific gas mileage for thier size, and they are toyotas, so they are going to be nice and reliable like Hondas. The styling is hit or miss depending who you are and your tastes, but they are definately great little commuter cars.

I like it. It is different. I have only seen two of them in my area though.....It will compete with the Element, but I think it is smaller than the element.
