Rep Power: 0 Before a really long trip?
I'll be driving 6000km in one go this spring, what do you guys recommend I do to my car before driving that far insofar as fluids, maintenance, etc. are concerned? Other than an oil change. Also, does anyone know any way of making our Civics' seats comfortable when sitting in them for more than an hour? Thanks.

Rep Power: 272 Nah, just change your oil, and maybe check your air filter. That's all that I did before I left for Vegas, and I got back in one piece. (Honda reliability!)
I think the Civics' seat is comfy. I didn't get out for almost 5 hours before filling up and I felt fine. I do keep a small pillow though to put on the seat if my *** starts to get sore.

Rep Power: 336 Check the oil of course, tire pressure, air filter. .
Check coolant level and test it to make sure it's still good.
Fill up the washer fluid because bugs will start to come out in the spring and splat your windshield.
Make sure you have the spare tire, jack, and a few tools with you in case of a blow out, or other minor problem.
Pack some extra fluids (ie antifreeze, oil) in case you need it.
Don't hesitate to check your oil at gas station fill ups, or rest stops. .

Rep Power: 371 Speaking of Spare, make sure that has air in it. You dont want to be stuck somewhere with out a spare. In my mom's car, no one checked the spare for 8 years, but luckily there was no situation to use it,but until one day I took it out, and measured the air, it had a nice 9 lbs in it, when its supposed to have 60lbs for the donut spare. Check that, and have some basic tools. Dont forget a flashlight. I have one those that has a radio, and a orange blinky light on it. Never know when you could be stuck out in the dark somewhere.

Rep Power: 287 The longest I ever drove in my civic was 9 hours to Niagra Falls. I was comfortable the whole way. I love the civic seats, they're soft on your *** and they hug you around your midsection.
I just got my oil changed before I left, they should be checking your fluids during an oil change anyway. Ditto to the guy who said to keep an eye on your tire pressure.

Rep Power: 0 Here's a thing to check: if you have aftermarket wheels and lugs, you'll want to make sure your factory lug wrench works with the new lugs. Some folks have tire shops do all their rotating, and they never have the opportunity to discover this potential problem before they're stuck in the middle of nowhere without the ability to change their flat. I know my factory wrench doesn't fit on my Splinedrives.

Rep Power: 0 I drove about 12 hours to Vancouver this past summer, when I was done the stock seats had beaten the hell out of my back, I find they're only comfortable for 3 hours at a time, then circulation to your *** starts to go down.

Rep Power: 0 so glad i put celica seats in my car ..... soooooo comfy for long trips
and yeah tire preassure is important. I have low profile tires (like most of us do) and at 90-100 for a very long time you want good air preassure and good tires
oh and a radar detector. I have a Valentine one ... its paid for itself with many saved speeding tickets. Well worth the premium price
