Supercharged Subaru Sti

i just got off the fon with a co-worker who races rally cars, he told me that he was a test driver for the new full race detuned to 500whp subaru sti, the production modle will not come out for another 2 years, and yes it is SUPERCHARGED, when i asked him why it was super charged he said because it had a more stable, consistant power band, also it had padle shifters on the right and left side of the steering wheel, all electronic gear shifting, one tire for off road cost 250 dollars, and the street tire cost 300 per tire, just to let you kno subaru`s next sti might not be turbo charged.........

Hmm... I don't know how that'll do in Rally's. Turboes have consistently done better esp. in the higher altitude courses...

I bet it would put down a shitload more torque though. Dont get me wrong I love turbos, but if you want low end power you need a SC.

Hmm nows whreres my bitch? he should be in here raving about SC's since his kit just arived for his Dakota....too bad Ill still eat his truck alive

I personally think it would be stupid and totally against rally-car tradition, but hey, they put a 2.5L in the USDM STi, so who knows, they might go even further and put on a SC.

I call total BS on this thread.

Subaru would have NOTHING to gain by supercharging an EJ20 series engine. First-off, the stress on the engine would be far greater than that of a turbo, and the entire design of the engine is based on the turbocharging model.

DEtuned to 500hp? WTF? There's a 300hp cap on rally cars to begin with.

Again. . .I call BS on this whole thread. . . and what's more, I **** on thee.

I will believe it when I see it. Unless the WRC is going to change the maximum hp and tq rules I highly doubt this though. I think the rules are there to keep the race safe and to put people on somewhat an even field.

Hmmm.... Come to think of it they could put the sc (if they ever intend on using one) on the American model, becuase we already have a VERY different version from the Sti that's allowed in Rally's.

but yeah, I still don't think it's very likly... because as already mentioned, it was developed through years of turbo'ing.
