I've heard numerous stories on here about stolen vics. Basically the immobilizer doesn't work. Best bet is a good alarm, but even that's not a sure thing.
no kind of alarm will keep a thief from getting your car if they REALLY want it. i have an alarm and the auto-lock (attaches to pedal). all you can do is try to detour them the best you can. hopefully... it will be too much hassle for them to want to take it. by then, i'll have a gun anxiously awaiting for them.

Best thing is indoor parking or garage, one way or another they get it, i.e. flatbed. My friend had 01 ITR had compustar pager alarm set on super sensitive like if you just touch the door it goes off, boomerang also. They still stole if from a place we always are and is always busy with lots of ppl walking by so you wouldn't think they would steal it but they did.
yea, someone got their 7thgen vic stolen, and hes a member of this site. I think he posted on the canadian forums about his vic getting stolen. He found it the next night burnt to a crisp. I felt sorry for the guy, he had a bad *** vic too.
, watch out for ya car man!!!
thieves, especially car thieves are smart. they can get past an type of electronic security system that your car has on it; if they really want it that bad. **** if you had armed guards around your car and they wanted it bad enough, they would find a way to steal it.
nothing is garunteed 100% to work. all you can do is take precautions and hope they move on to the next vehicle.

My opinion, alarms are a waste of $$$ and are pretty much the most ignored things on the face of the planet. when you're walking through a parking lot and a car alarm is going off (yours or not) do you pay any attention to the car or do you thing "turn that damn thing off"?
If you want to really secure your car, get a Battery cut off swith with an Alternator Kill. only way the car will run is with the key in place, hot wireing wont work (alternators cut off too) so the only way to steel it is to tow it away.
Battery cut-off swithc - alternator Kill
Not perfect, but at least it doesn't annoy you.

i mean who really care's if there vic is stolen the car is worth 15 grand or less that's nothing compared to having your mom's mercedes stolen which cost 55 grand. Even if the Vic is stolen insurance will write it off so it's alright either way. I sometimes wish my Vic was stolen that way i can get that Acura TL I've been dreaming about.

^^ you've obviously never had a car stolen from you. Its more then just how much its worth, its the hastle of dealing with the police, dealing with the Insurance co (and trying to not get screwed by them) and your out of a car for at least a week or two (if you dont have rental car on your insurance).
Its more of a hastle then its worth.

I had someone jack my wheels and my entire stereo (2 amps, subs, 6x9's, 6 1/2 component sets, power wires, rca's) they stole EVERYTHING except my remote wire including my wheels.
Not to mention my car was in my garage. I got home at 3am that night on my motorcycle and my car was prefectly fine. I woke up next morning and went to my car at 8:00am and it was all jacked. My garage was closed and locked. Talk about a shock and a half.
Luckily the dumbass who stole my wheels put them on his car that same night and he lived across the road from me. I noticed my wheels on his Avenger and called the cops. All serial numbers and descriptions matched perfectly as described in police report. They linked that kid and his roomate up to 27 other thefts. THey are going to prison for a long time. I get my stuff back within a year because the cops have to hold it as evidence to convict them. Sucks!! I want my stuff back, it's been 6 months already since it happened.
So yeah, if they want your stuff they'll take it.

So you've never stolen any thing? not even a pack of gum? downloaded an MP3??? Be carefull about making Blanket statements.
i was doing some research about the stock immobilizer and came across something really interesting.
the stock immobilizer is pretty complex and it's not that easy to reprogram keys for it but there was one thing that struck me. the whole entire unit controls one little switch. and the stupid thing is that the relay is super easily accessable. and it doesnt take a pro car thief to short out a relay.
if the only thing the immobilizer does is cut off fuel, we're really screwed. does anyone know if the immobilizer cuts off ignition too? i know it doesnt cut off the starter and from the honda documents i read, it should be super easy to by pass the fuel cut off too.

It doesn't even work. Someone had their car stolen with a screwdriver in the ignition. It's a joke. It says it's supposed to cut fuel and disable ignition, but that's only if you use the wrong key. Really stupid, and it's easy to get keys made at Honda.

I sometimes think getting my Civic stolen would be less of a hassle than trying to sell it. Sure I'd have to put up with insurance and police but at least I wouldn't be putting up with potential buyers or car dealers trying screw me on trade-in.
The 2way pager alarms really do work. My friend was at work and his pager went off, so he went outside to check his car, and chased off 2 guys that were trying to jimmy the windows
