my dad used to have a 96 intrepid, that thing hauled ***!! It handled very well too for a big car. Not sure how the 94s were, but if they were anything like my dads I wouldnt mind driving one
My dad used to have a 99 intrepid i believe, and at 48,000 miles the rear suspension pretty much just died while we were on vacation. We were in a snow storm and sliding all over the place on black ice. Then when we got back he was picking up his boss from the airport and the power steering and power brakes just went out. He brought it to the shop and they said that one of the pulleys came loose and the belt was hanging on by one ridge!!!

only signs of light I have found so far is possible soe lowering springs, or maybe they were coilovers - on eBay. there also might be some (crappy) intakes, but I cant tell if its for the intrepid for sure... all the auctions seem to say like, different dodges.. it confuzzes me
theres a guy who has a dark green intrepid that has a body kit on it, i donno who makes it but i heard from a friend that he made it himself, hes also got graphics, huge aluminum wing and some 16inch 5 spoke rims. itd look sweet if he took the wing off and graphics, anyways i didnt no that you totalled your civic man!?

I use to own a 1994 Intrepid ES with the 3.5L engine, I would have taken that thing any day over my civic, it drove nicer, rode better, and was much faster. The only problems with them are that they have the crappiest trannies out of any vehicles out there.
On my Intrepid, I went straight duals, Had a whole new air intake system on it. Other than that I didn't get heavy into it. My friend, however, does have a Intrepid that is turbo'ed if you would like I can send him an email and ask him who made it for you?

I wouldn't even bother. My personal opinion of the Intrepid's worth is irrelevant, but if it is NOT what you want, why waste any money?
My Civic was not my primary "modding" vehicle, but I actually like it so I threw some minor stuff on there. I wouldn't have even bothered if I felt the way you obviously do about the Intrepid, heh

ok people, I had a 01 civic EX coupe, I had lots of stuff on it.
I smashed it into a phone pole.
cash is short.
my grandmother has a 1994 Intrepid ES with 32,920 miles on it.
she is going to give me a good deal on it, it will be paid for, and my insurance will go down.
basicly this is what I am getting, so I would like it if the why bother comments stopped.
thank you!

But if it's not a car you would go out and buy on your own, I was just curious why you would spend the money to mod it instead of just saving it for the next car you actually WANT to buy.

I'm guessing he wants to make it his personal own car and different from all the other intrepid's on the road, the same as what most civic owners do. Do you think that all modified civic owners wanted their civic? Not really, and if they do say that they are most likely lying. I bet most civic owners would rather have a different car. But we work with what we got

thanks for the understanding
I dotn want to do much to the apperance really, but I do like the idea of making it even faster. I found that I can get an intake for it that is actually from a civic or integra (I forget wich) and it works on there! I was surpised. There are also lowering springs, pulleys, gears, and tranny upgrades (like LSD). No headers or catbacks tho.
awhile back I remember hearing about a hi flo cat for intrepids, but have not come across one.
I know one of the first things I am going to do is put fun sparkplugs in there, makes me feel like Im really doing somthing.

Make sure that whatever you do your first mod is to take the ABS plastic silencer out of the inside of the intake pipe. It actually adds an additional 6 hp. I had my car dyno'ed with and without it, and it is very restrictive.
Actually, yes, I really wanted my Civic
It's cheap to maintain, not bad looking and gets GREAT gas mileage. If I was delusional and had unrealistic expectations for it, then yah, I might have been one of those disappointed people
For my current desires, which is an efficient car since my parents were extremely generous in funding my college education, she is perfect. I guess there are some people that want things before it is practical or feasible, but I'm way past that.
Um, most cars have a snorkel type air silencer to reduce noise...In Mustangs it's inside the fenderwell right next to the airbox, but I can't say about Civics since I have not wanted to modify my engine for obvious (well, obvious to me at least) reasons.

This "snorkel" device, is actually inside the piping from the filter to the throttle bodies. And yes the Intrepid's, at least the 3.5L have dual throttle bodies and they are very nice once they get the proper air flow to them.
