Civic Type R in US?

According to motor trend, the Civic Type R is a done deal, meaning its definately coming to the US market soon.

Click here for the article and read at the bottom

"Honda hasn't publicly said the Type R is coming to the U.S.--but we say it's a done deal."

Nice. In the face of STI's, EVO's, and SRT-4's, Honda needs a little more "youth appeal".

Anyone read the part about it being released "Fall 2003 as a 2004 model"? It's obviously not a done deal as it is now early 2004 and no Type R.

BTW That article came our last year around this time.

honda still favors the locals unlike mitsu and subaru finally givin us some hot rides out of the box. by the way, type s is bs too. look at the k20 type-s usa (200hp) and the k20 type-r japan (220hp).

Talk, talk, talk and wishful thinking.. Honda would lose too much money bringing them over here.. Especially after the crazy markup and all kinds of competiton.. I doubt it will ever happen..

Well thats the difference. We have the type S and they have the type R. There are quite a few differences between the two.

actually honda has been debating the release of the Type R civic and Type R Integra for sometime. However the truth of the market if you actually talk to the Honda corperation is. If they do release any type R's it will not come until the next generation of civics and integras now known as RSX

...and if it did come here, that price would be WAY off. $18,000-$20,000? You must be kidding me. The Si costs like 19,320, so why would a Type-R only be ~$700 more? It doesn't add up, and it never will.

that's a very old article, and even if it happens, the car won't be any better than a TypeS

the Si doesnt sell that much... so if they did release the CTR then they would either cancel out the Si and release the CTR for an ungodly amount(like they did w/ the USDM integra-R) or they would lower the price on the Si(which i doubt they would ever do)... so at least for the CTR, u can guarantee its not coming.
but the RSX/Integra-R is another case... its an acura, acuras go for high amounts. and they did release the LS/RS, GSR, Type-R here.. so they would probably have a line up like that(base, Type-S, Type-r)... but guess what, no one would buy it tho... the type-s is already expensive enough for teens and youngin's.

no chance

just look at the situation: they already have established cars in both the CTR and the ITR categories, they are not gonna cancel a car that they put hundreds of thousands into develping just to bring the same car with a little more tuning to the US

Actually, the new Si is picking up in sales....I don't know where you get your info, but yeah...I don't like them either...It just reminds me of something a girl would drive for some reason (Don't know why) That's just my 2 cents though.

It's gotta be that whole egg-shape to it. For some reason, it really looks to me like a girl would drive that car, as well. I don't think they're all that bad looking, though. Especially with a wide-body kit; but, then again, I love MINI Coopers... so what do I know, lol.

or maybe he/she already has a cornor cubed box and to retaliate(sp?) from the abuse they got, they decided to create the next high end civic to look like a mini van...

bah... i would rather buy a 2 grand hatchback and put the extran 15 grand into performance. that would top any type r any day...(end rant)
