Regrets about $ spent on your car

I asked this in "$ spent to date" thread but only a couple poeple answered, I would really like to know what are some things you wish you would of never spent money on your car.

Mine is definatly my system, I took that thing out and its been sitting in my room... I dont even feel like putting it back in.

I also regret getting 17 inch rims, I should of spent an extra 300 bucks and gotten 18s.

Don't get me wrong - I love my car, but I wish I would've taken the money I've put into this, saved it, and gotten a more expensive car. I would like to see more gains (in all areas - not just hp) from the money I put in.

I wish I never spent almost $800 building my N/A setup. That was 1/3 of the cost of my turbo.

N/A (naturally aspirated) or built engine I think.

Now that you got me started, I wasted a ton of money on my car.

-TYC tezzas $235
-AEM SRI $250
-Altezza grill + paint $120
-XM receiver and service $150
-wipers, washer LEDs, install $80
-proximity sensor for alarm $150

tons more stuff I can't remember now, but it added up to around $1000. Sucks, but I guess it's better that it's off my car now.

Spent close to $2500 in ICE stuff that's not even that great. Couple amps and a sub, and some speakers. Sounds great, but some days I wish I saved it and got a turbo.

luckily i realized before i spent all my money on my civic, that i don't want to spend insane amounts of money to make a slow car fast, and realized that i want to sell my slow civic, and make a fast car even faster

Yeah . I wish I would have put in more money thank I put into my ICE toward a slightly different set up than what I have now. I like what I have but, I went cheap, and should have spent an extra $400 just to get a really really sweet system, but I didn't.

Aside from that I haven't really bought anything that would make me upset about it.

I bought some other useless stuff that I have since pulled off my car, like some neon rope light, an SI badge, windshield washer LEDs, pedal covers, neon shift ****. So since I've pulled all that off my car I guess it's a waste.

ROFL @pheaton....an SI BADGE?? how much crack did you smoke to pull that one off? lol, did you add that to the things you wont do with your car list?

i would have to agree that after all the money ive spent on my car, if i had saved it all up, i may have been able to trade in the civic and get something else.

I HATE MY CIVIC so much I dont even drive it, and its a 2001 with 11,000miles thats the only thing thats good on that car, oh yeah and I'm not working.... sorry I had to let this out lol

I wish I never got a body kit since I crash my ride . However on the light note the insurence company repaid all of it. So lets see probally my stereo system becuase even though Im running about 2,500 watts there is constantly crap going wrong. I have had to take off the front side panels becuase of the wires keep screwing up like 3 times.
I also regret getting indigo gauges becuase I broke that little plastic hinge that keeps your steering colum together on the right side. Now I am using earthquake puddy >.<
also with the money totalted of my car spent! I could be cruising around with an RSX-Type S with rims at least!
And and after the crash money the insurence had to pay! I could be in a damn mazada rx-8!

Beleive me. . There was alot of crack involved. . lol. . j/k. Seriously though. I pulled my LX emblem off my car and scratched the paint on accident, so I wanted something to cover up the scratch, so in my early days, when I went through my "rice administration" I slapped an SI badge on there. Fortunately I think I got away with it, a 7th gen in July 2001, nobody knew what kind of car I had, because there weren't any 7th gens around here. . Anyways. I wised up one day and took it off.

and yes. . that's on my list of things not to do to my car.

I think alot of us had our early rice days where we would mod anything that could be modded for cheap. Now we're learning.

I regret every damned penny I spend on gas, because it's gone within a few days..... Not that you can help that with any car, but the topic DID say any $$ spent on your car, right?

Oh, and Insurance I paid for and never had to use for anything.... That's a big regret too.

I havent regretted anything I have on my civic yet. Have my system, sounds great, thats the only big expence. I love it. Trying to be logical about the car. Its an economy car, and i go about 100 miles a day during the week. so doesnt make sense to try to make it fast, cause it wont be. My regret was not getting a new GTI or Spec V, something with some bigger *****. But then again, would cost a fortune to be pumping the premium gas into it with the large amounts of driving I do.

this is true....if you are really unhappy with your civic, don't dump money into it. making a civic fast is by no means an easy project, a tonnnnn of money has to be spent and alot of people don't have the money or the patience. remember, a honda civic is created to be a practical, reliable, gas saving car, not a car thats gonna do 11's on the track.

Civic's cost to much if you ask me. For a new loaded Civic you can get a used RSX or S2000. I see S2000 going for $18,000 all the time. Then you wouldn't have to worry about mods at all.
