The Truth about the Audi S4...
The Good: If you are a riceboy and you wanna rip this car apart to modd it, then this is an excellent platform. Like all turbo cars, power can be extracted quite easily. With AWD, it makes an excellent all-weather car. The design is Audi's best, and really is timeless.
The Bad: In stock form, this car's no longer respected. When it first came out back in 90's, 250HP was great, since it's rival BMW M3 only had 240HP. But today's competition pumps a lot more power (270HP Acura TL, 280HP Infinity G35c, 255HP Maxima, etc). Imagine getting pumped by a 40 year old man in his shitty Acura (yes, it did 5.7s 0-60mph... with a FWD car... and it will pull harder thereafter with its VTEC).

You can do anything you want pretty much. Anyone seen a sequencial tri-turbo(were two small ones feed a huge turbo)? I have not, just wondering if someone tried it out. If you calculated the thermal effiency, the numbers would not be that much better than a TT. Interesting project for a Thermodynamics class.

?
I think some people are getting over excited and confussed between the 2000 model and the current firebreathing model.
My advice made is to consider all the costs:
insurance
gas
parts/labour (although audis generally have a good rep for reliability and build quality)

Oh and I don't remember who said that an exhaust and a chip will give you 500hp on an S4, but you are far from correct. You will need to do the KO4 turbo swaps among other things to get anywhere near 500hp at the CRANK. I was in the market for an S4 before I got my WRX. I was looking at and researching one for the longest time before I decided not to get one. The only thing that detered me from getting one was the price of aftermarket and OEM parts and installation prices. They are OUTRAGEOUS! It is definitely a beautiful car with tons of potential. I'd say, do a bunch of research on the car before you decide to get one. I'd love to have one if I could afford to mod it.
